Many episodes are linked together (DQIII > I > II > Builders 2 > Caravan Heart)/(DQVI, > IV > Torneko trilogy > V)...
Some episodes takes place in an alternative timeline (like Builders 1, which takes place after DQI but does not connect to DQII) etc.
Mostly, it depends on personal headcanon for the rest, like whether or not you consider extanded material Canon or not.
