Abominable showman (Dragon Quest IV)

The abominable showman is a boss character in Dragon Quest IV, and the last of the opponents fought by Alena in the Endor Colosseum. It later became a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.

The Abominable Showman is a yeti monster with light purple fur and dark purple hands and feet.

Dragon Quest IV[]

At the start of each combat turn, the Showman splits into four copies of itself. Alena can only deal damage to the Showman if she attacks the correct copy (unlike most groups of similar enemies, each copy of the Showman is treated as a separate enemy). Only one of the copies will attack Alena, and if she hits the wrong one, the copy dissipates, and the real Showman will stick its tongue out at her.

The Abominable showman is the monster set by Sage Buroggen in order for Princess Anlucia to develop the hero skill known as the The Eyes of the Luminary, which would allow her to discern truth from illusion.

The Abominable Showman appears at the end of Mount Neverest, guarding the way to Gragwort's abode and thus, the ultimate weapon needed to defeat the Drakulard. The real Abominable Showman can spew out Ice, unlike the Clones who are not capable of doing so.

A play on the myth of the "Abominable Snowman", being a yeti monster who is also an entertainer.
