Alistair Albert is a character in Dragon Quest VIII. He is Jessica's older brother and a direct descendant of Alexandra, one of the seven sages, and he was unfortunately killed at the hands of Dhoulmagus.

History[]
Before the game, Alistair lived quietly with Jessica and her mother, Rosalind, in the Albert mansion in Alexandria. Alistair always taught Jessica moral values and some magic.
In the game you never get to see him as he was killed by Dhoulmagus. The Hero arrives at the top floor of the Alexandria Tower, these finds Jessica there. She, determined that the Hero is the killer, lashes out at him. Just then, Alistair, from Alexandra's statue shows a vision to Jessica and the group.
It was a stormy night; Alistair saw that the gate of the Tower of Alexandria was open. He decided to go investigate and met Dhoulmagus. He tells her that human frailty is a shame, after saying this, Dhoulmagus bewitches Alistar so that he cannot unwrap his sword and the sinister jester stabs him with the Scepter. After killing him, Alistair's soul rests for a few days on Alexandra's statue.
After explaining all the facts, Alistair's soul vanishes forever (presumably departing to the afterlife), and Jessica begins to sob inconsolably. After this, Alistair is not seen again.
