Anger is a recurring skill/trait in the Dragon Quest series.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest IX[]

Making its main series debut, it is a status of all monsters in the game that is activated through various conditions, such as Whistling, reducing their HP to less than half, Eyes on Me, critical hits and/or spells gone haywire, Knight Watch, and many more. They will always focus their attacks and spells on the person that enraged them, though their anger can be dispelled with Soothe Sayer.

Dragon Quest X[]

While mostly acting the same as in IX, a monster's attack power is increased, they use skills and spells they normally wouldn't use, and their action intervals are shortened. In addition to the same skills, Shocking Twist can also enrage monsters, though it will paralyze them if they attack the user. Their anger can once again be dispelled with Soothe Sayer. Players can also get enraged by using Morale Masher, allowing them to get another turn. The game also introduces another more powerful version called Rage.

Rocket Slime[]

Making its debut, it is a posture of Killing machines that accumulates their power when taking damage, and will go haywire after a certain period of time, increasing their speed and increasing their attack.

Dragon Quest of the Stars[]

Appearing as the Battlemaster's vocational skill, it increases the user's attack by 40% and increases their critical hit rate for 2 turns, though they cannot defend and will receive more damage.
