Assassin's Stab is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series. It may instantly kill a target.

Appearances

Dragon Quest VIII

Making its debut, Jessica can learn this technique after allocating 22 skill points into her Knife skill. The rate of success is independent of the foe's resistance to whack, with a fixed 12.5% chance to work. After allocating 100 points, it is replaced by the deadlier Sudden Death technique, which deals an additional 50% more damage regardless of success and has a higher accuracy of 25%.

Dragon Quest IX

An attack that possesses a fixed 12.5% chance to instantly kill a target. Costs 3 MP to use and is learned after 58 points have been invested into the Knife skill tree. It is also used by Peckerels against their enemies in battle.

Dragon Quest X

While appearing as an enemy only skill that is used by Peckerels once again, as well as Scornets, Thorny dolls, Dirty dolls, Nail blighters, and Needle rabbits, it can also be used by players when they recruit a Needleman to their side from 2.1 onwards.

Dragon Quest XI

Erik unlocks the skill for 16 points in his Daggers skill panel. It costs 5 MP to use and has a 20% chance to kill a target, but will rise to 45% if Nastier Knives is mastered for another 20 points. It is also used by Hellriders in battle against their enemies.
