The assassin's dagger is a weapon in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest III Remake[]
The Assassin's dagger grants an Attack bonus of +25, a 6.25% (1⁄16th) chance to instantly slay a foe, and may only be equipped by Mages and Thieves. In the Super Famicom and Game Boy Color versions, an assassin's dagger can be found on the third Treasures n' Trapdoors track near the Castle of the Dragon Queen and the Shrine of Shackles in a treasure chest. In all other versions, there is only one in the game, and it can be found in the basement of Romaria Castle, behind a door locked by the Ultimate key.
It can be sold for 4,125 gold coins.
Dragon Quest VII[]
- Flavor Text
- A venomous barb which can inflict a critical hit.
The Assassin's dagger has an Attack bonus of +30 and a style bonus of +11. It has a 12.5% chance to deal instant death to an enemy and can only be equipped by Maribel. Assassin's daggers can be purchased from various shops for 1,500 gold coin and sold for 750 gold coins. They can also be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casino or dropped by Fighting batboons and Nail blighters.
- There is a beneficial bug in the 3DS remake where the instant death chance is calculated a second time after damage is displayed.
Dragon Quest VIII[]
The Assassin's dagger has an Attack bonus of +37. It can only be equipped by Jessica, as well as Red in the Nintendo 3DS version. One can be found in the Arcadia Region in a treasure chest that requires the Thief's key to open. They can be dropped rarely by Anchormen, Claws in the PS2 and Cell phone versions, Jackal rippers, and Jumping jackals. Note: using Jessica's Sudden Death technique when the dagger is equipped will not increase the likelihood of the skill's success, and the instant death effect is absent altogether. It can be sold for 1,250 gold coins. The Assassin's dagger can be used to create an Imp knife.
Alchemy Formula[]
Dragon Quest IX[]
The Assassin's Dagger is a dagger that has a chance to instantly kill the foe it hits, but does only one damage if this chance fails. This can nonetheless come in useful, for example grinding off members of the metal slime family, when it will always do 1 damage even where other weapons would miss.
