Aura (闘気 tōki) is the latent energy that stems in living beings that they are able to use, whether for fight or other special purposes, according to their specific abilities.

Aura is a powerful life energy within warriors (whether human, demon, beast person, metallic life-form or sacred being)
The following are the types of aura used in the Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken series:
- Energy Aura: also known as life energy, used by any living being that has a base control of his/her energy. Dai and Hyunckel can focus their auras in order to use their sword/spear techniques as well. Metallic life forms such as Hym and Gomechan are also capable of using this energy.
- Life Aura: when the user puts his life at stake, as in the case of Hyunckel and Nova.
- Aura of Light: used by the Disciples of Avan.
- Dark Aura: used by dark beings, such as Mystvearn, Lon Beruk and Hadlar. Hyunckel was also capable of using it to some extent.
- Draconic Aura: used by Dragon Knights, such as Baran and Dai, when they release the power of their Dragon Crests.
- Sacred Aura: a special energy donned by sacred beings, such as Mother Dragon and Gomechan,
since he is the representation of the "Tear of gods".
