Bad axe (Great axe in DQotS and Tact) is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest VIII Remake[]

The Bad axe has an attack bonus of +90 and casts Kaswoosh when used as a tool in battle. It can only be equipped by Yangus as long as he is level 40. The axe can be sold for 31,000 but it is not recommended to do so as only one can be acquired in the game.

The axe was available as a special promotion to Japanese players through the Square Enix Members website, eventually becoming available as a special delivery item from June 8, 2016 to June 21, 2016. It also became available to international players for a short time in 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable.

Dragon Quest X[]

The Bad axe has an Attack bonus of +100, a max MP bonus of +6, a Style bonus of +16, increase the wielder's Weight by 19, and has an equipment level of 60. It can be equipped by Warriors, Rangers, Monster Masters, Death Masters, and Pirates, as well as Hussar in the Offline version of the game. The axe can be crafted with weaponsmithing.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

It is an A-rank axe that can be received as a reward for turning in 35 Mini medals to King Maximog. It has an ATK bonus of +22, increases the wielder's physical potency by 2%, and has three slots for Alchemy Effects. Some of the potential effects include increasing the brilliant effect of Frizz and Zam-type physical skills.
