Baduck is a character from Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai and its animated adaptations.
Appearance[]
Baduck is an old man that wears a red armour. In the 2020 adaptation, he is slightly more muscular and wears a silver armor instead.
Personality[]
Baduck is very loyal to his kingdom. Regardless of the fact that he is often underestimated for his old age, he is always willing to fight for the greater good.
Abilities[]
According to him, he is a renowed engineer and an user of the Papnica One Sword Style.
Plot[]
In the prequel story, a younger and more capable Baduck is seen fifteen years ago, where he assisted Avan's party against the Killing machine.
Clash Arc[]
Baduck appears to be living in a hut near Papnica and used to be the chief soldier. He finds Dai and Popp collapsed in the mountains after their fight against Hyunckel. He watches over the duo as they train to learn Zapple and ranarion. Baduck gives Dai his chainmail to protect himself against Hyunckel's attack, and offers to go to the battle with them, but Popp says it would be better for him to wait outside.
After Hyunckel's defeat Baduck meets with the Dai and Popp, now accompanied by Maam. Baduck fixes Dai's Metal Protector that was damaged by Bloody Scraid and gives him his Chain mail. He takes everyone to get some flares in order to get in contact with with Papnica's retainers.
He keeps watch of the balloon while Dai and the others face Flazzard, before taking everyone to Matoriv's cave.
Matoriv makes a plan to destroy Flazzard's towers, but doesn't agree to participate. The mage gives the job of crafting the two bombs that were to be used.
Baduck and Dai go together to explode the fire tower where they meet with Zaboera's and Mystvearn's army. Baduck is almost killed by Zaboera's Whack, when Crocodine appears and save the two.
Holy Sword Arc[]
Staying at Papnica castle, he creates the "Vortex Axe Revives Mark II" for Crocodine after the previous one was destroyed by Baran.
He appears at the reunion of the world leaders at Papnica.
Halo Arc[]
After Vearn defeats the party, Baduck, Marin and Apollo beg for Lon Berk to create new weapons to everyone, while Baduck himself created a nunchaku for Chiu.

- He has the same vocation as Ragnar, apparently being visually inspired by him and his pink armour.
