Unused Monsters
Gas Dragon
Gas dragon (ガスドラゴン)
A very early version of the Wyrtle monster. This dragon seeps fumes out of the holes on its back, possibly a poisonous gas.
Mandrake major
An early version of the Mandrake major monster of the same name. Their appearance was changed drastically when they made their game debut in Dragon Quest V but the Crocodine manga character is closer to the unused monster and predates their game release.
Minotaur
Minotaur (ミノタウロス)
These monsters were possibly taking place for the Troll monsters before getting scrapped. Their appearance consists of a blue Archdemon's head on a body of a regular troll.
Halloween man
Halloween Man (ハロウィンマン)
An unused pumpkin monster, possibly a prototype Pumpkin knight which was introduced in Caravan Heart. Interestingly, it's blue cloak dons the Children of Hargon symbol seen throughout Dragon Quest II by various monsters, but there's no instance of the cult in III however.
Stalker
Stalker (死神 (ストーカー))
What looks like a Mean spirit, only with a skeletal face.
Tower of eyes
Tower of Eye (タワーオブアイ)
This unused monster has many eyes and various tentacles. It seems to be based on the Hyakume folklore monster, it's also probably a proto Eyesaur. Interestingly, a sprite of this monster can be found in old previews in Japanese magazines.
Asashion
Asashion (アーサーシオン)
A fat pig monster that resembles Oolong from the Dragon Ball series. It's named after sumo Asashio Taro.
Unused shaman
This shaman monster seems to be an early version of the Heedoo voodoo family of monsters. It was scrapped either due to the racial depiction shown, or perhaps its colour palette was too ambitious.
Hand Wood
Hand Wood (ハンドウッド)
A tree monster with many hands at the end of each branch.
Entecorino
Entecorino (ヘンテコリーノ)
An unused alien-like monster.
Roper
Roper (ローパー)
A monster based on a D&D monster.
Evil bush
Evil Bush (エビルブッシュ)
An unused monster that looks like a forest of trees with a monstrous face.
King Satan
King Satan (キングサタン)
A monster that seems to be an evolved form of the Imp monsters.
Boss No2
Boss No2 (ボス その２)
An unused boss monster that has an ethereal serpent around it.
Unused Zoma form
What seems to be Zoma's unused after-transformation second form looking like a yellow Hellspawn.
