Black Breath (Dark Breath in DQotS and Tact) is a recurring breath skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest IX[]
Making its debut as a stronger version of Dark Breath, it is learned by the Dragonlord when he reaches Level 49 onwards. It can deal about 250 damage on all enemies, but it can be as high as 500 damage at higher levels.
Dragon Quest X[]
Acting the same as in IX, it is used by Terrornodons, Demon clouds, Shadeshifters, Black dragons, Lunar chimaeras, Sham hamwitches, White imps, Infernos, Basiliscales, Visor kaisers, Gelbatrosses, Icicle dragons, Solarises, Hyperboareans, Gnuriels, Dark nebuluses, Zombie paladins, Mukfish, Purplanaries, Fuginmunins, Equinox, Vermil lion, Devil Chief Jiggis, Zackes, Grudge sludge, Magic Beast, Bones of Baramos, Wave dragon, Kurayami Hiten, Black flying dragon, Dark Demon Titos, Demon of the gate, General Jamirus, Gomol, Slide, Demon Dragon Jaomanda, Wienum, Familas, Blackmar, Sea Servants, Jia Ruda, and Silver Armoured Assault Commander Dabam in battle.

Learned by Shadows at level 20 and Dragon zombies at level 26, it damages enemies within range and costs 27 MP to use. A scroll of this ability can also be purchased for 1,500 Chocolate Truffles during the Valentine's Day Event.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]
Acting mostly the same as in previous appearances, it is learned by investing 10 skill points into the Barbarus talent, 30 skill points into the Agent Provocateur talent, 50 skill points into the Bad Breather, Cool Customer, Dark Horse, and Hater talents, 70 skill points into the Blighter and Blowhard talents, 80 skill points into the Zam Virtuoso talent, and 100 skill points into the Deep Breather talent, but can occasionally prevent enemies from casting spells for 4 to 7 turns and costs 22 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Champions[]
Acting mostly the same as in previous appearances once again, it is already learned when wielding the Dark dragon spear, but can occasionally curse enemies and costs 20 MP to use.
