The bodkin archer is a monster who appears in the Dragon Quest game series.
Characteristics
Bodkin archers are green, impish creatures dressed in simple hoods and tunics. Being marksmen, they carry a bow with a quiver full of arrows. When they are early enemies, their attacks will deal very little damage. However, they can summon others to form a mob, and can also cast Buff to bolster allies' defence.
Strategy
The Bodkin Archer has the ability to use Buff, which increases the defense levels of the other monsters, making it slightly harder to kill the affected monster. They lack in damage.
Tips to Combat:
- Buff doesn't do too much and should be ignored. If you're having trouble, target the other monsters without Buff.
- Treat with Low Priority.

Bo the Crossbow Kid’s quest
Several friendly bodkin archers can be found near campsites throughout the realm of Erdrea, after obtaining the Crackshot Crossbow from Bo in Gallopolis. Bo will ask the Luminary to track down five (5) targets per region and report to one of these agents. Speaking to a bodkin archer will reveal the number of targets left to shoot in the current region. When all five targets are struck down, the player can claim a prize. Hitting all targets in every region except Heliodor and Arboria will earn the Crossbow Colossus accolade and a happy hat from Bo himself.
