Burland is a city and kingdom in Dragon Quest IV. Ragnar's home, it is located in the northerly reaches of the planet's main continent, and provides the setting for the game's first chapter.
Story[]
Chapter 1[]
After learning that children are going missing from the village of Strathbaile, the King of Burland sends out his finest men, including Ragnar McRyan, to investigate. After travelling to the remote village, Ragnar discovers monsters based out of a nearby tower are behind the disappearances, kidnapping children in search of the legendary Hero. Defeating the monsters and rescuing the captive kids, Ragnor returns to Burland Castle a hero. Feeling uneasy about the safety of the Hero, however, Ragnor requests permission to leave in order to find and protect the Chosen.
Chapter 5[]
Hearing that Burland houses a piece of the Zenithian Equipment, the Hero and their party travel to the northern nation. Upon speaking with the King, however, it transpires that a past monarch had gifted the relic to a Queen of neighbouring Femiscyra, in the hopes of winning her heart. The party thus set out for Femiscyra to continue their search for the legendary gear.
