Canalot is a castle-town in Dragon Quest IV. Situated on the northwestern-most island of the map, the city is built over water, requiring the use of rafts to travel around. In the north of the city lies Canalot Castle.

Story[]

The party visits the town in Chapter 5, when Canalot's king is offering a reward to anyone who can make him laugh. Failing to impress him with any of their jokes, the party return to Laissez Fayre to recruit comedian Tom Foolery, with the intention of having him entertain the king on their behalf. To everyone's surprise, however, Tom instead delivers an impassioned speech about the fast-encroaching horrors of Nadiria, and the need of the Hero to combat them. The king relents and presents the party with the Zenithian helm.
