The Cathedral of Light is an important location in Dragon Quest VII.
Story[]
Built a few months after the "Almighty" is revived, it is visited by the Hero and the party accompanying King Donald from Estard. There, the party meet Sir Mervyn again, who is overseeing construction of this magnificent palace with the Emissaries of the Almighty and the Knights of Light, though he is called off to deal with Pike, who just wanted to see the Almighty alongside his nephew, but was late. Later, the Almighty delivers his speech to all leaders saying that peace has returned and throw down their weapons so they should not take the life of another man or monster, though ominously warns them to worship him and no other deity. During the speech, he stops himself and demands the Blood Ruby from the Hero, as it is evil. After the speech, the Hero, the party, Pike, and King Donald leave for Estard, via the Skystone, while Mervyn, having discoverd that something sinister was brewing is chased by Nephil and two soldiers for treason against the Almighty. When the "Almighty" is revealed to be Orgodemir by the 4 Elemental Spirits, the Cathedral of Light is revealed as the Cathedral of Blight, which serves as the final dungeon of the story.

Trivia[]
- The 3 monsters kept here as inhabitants (A Carbuncle, Cerberwretch, and a Juggular), are nearly silent when spoken to, but after hearing the Almighty speak, they laugh at the party when spoken to again, foreshadowing the Cathedral's dark secrets, as well as the disguised Demon King's revenge.
- A Haywire helm is also found as a treasure, though it is cursed to anyone who equips it, which also serves as foreshadowing the Cathedral's true nature.
