Cold Fission (Known as Diamond Dervish in Heroes II) is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest X[]

Making its main series debut, it is used by the Ima Filglare during its boss fight, dealing about 350 to 700 ice attribute damage, while potentially freezing the enemy.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Series[]

Making its debut from the first Battle Road onwards, it is the special skill of the Ice axe.

Dragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest Heroes II[]

Cold Fission is a special attack known initially by Aurora and costs 5 MP to cast. When she uses it, Aurora will summon an icy tornado in front of her, damaging any enemies caught in the vortex. It is also used by players when they have transformed into a Powie yowie via its Monster Medal in the sequel.

  • Cold Fission can be upgraded with the skill Cold Fission Extender, which extends the attack's area of effect. It costs 5 skill points to learn.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[]

Already learned by a newly reincarnated Diamond slime when it is recruited, it deals Crack breath damage to all enemies while potentially putting them to sleep.

Dragon Quest Swords[]

Appears as a Master Stroke when wielding the Frost Blade.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Learned by the Jolly Sasquash via its Talent Blossoming, it deals major martial Crack damage to all enemies around the user and costs 84 MP to use. It is also used by Bags o' laughs during the Christmas event and Queen slime during the Slime Festival Event's Boss Battle EX2. The skill was originally known as Diamond Dust in this entry until it was renamed to Cold Fission in the Version 3.1.2 update in order to avoid confusion with the Final Fantasy skill of the same name. A scroll of this ability can be obtained for 3,000 Legend League Medals at the Swap Shop.
