Cool Breath is a recurring breath attack in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Deals minor ice damage to all enemies.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest III Remakes[]

Only appearing in the remakes, it is used by Imps, Minidemons, Boreal serpents, Freezing fogs, and Firn fiends in battle, dealing 9 to 20 damage to all enemies.

Dragon Quest IV[]

While not named at the time, it is used by Imps, Powie yowies, Minidemons, Chillanodons, Hellspawns, Blizzybodies, Devilfish, and Baalzack in battle.

Dragon Quest V[]

Now officially named, it is learned by recruited Chimaeras and Powie yowies at level 5, recruited Walking corpses at level 10, and already learned by recruited Blizzybodies, Snowbirds, and Cross eyes. It costs 0 MP to use, and is also used by Brrrattling snakes, Cross eyes, and the Winter Queen in battle.

Dragon Quest VI[]

Learned by Shelley at level 5, advancing to Rank 5 of the Monster Master, and Rank 2 of the Dragon vocation, it acts the same as in its previous appearances and costs 0 MP to use once again. It is also used by Shadows, Dreamaeras, Freezing fogs, and Sculptrices in battle. It is also learned by recruited Dreamaeras, though only in the SNES version.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Learned by advancing to Rank 3 of the Drake Slime and Rank 4 of the Monster Masher, it acts the same as in previous titles and costs 0 MP to use once again. It is also used by Forky pigs, Drag racers, Hocus porcuses, Iron frylings, Sizzards, Wet kissers, Quayhorses, Rainiac, and the Gigalumph boss in Highendreigh Tower. In the 3DS remake, it is learned by advancing to Rank 3 of the Monster Masher, and has been strengthened, hitting for 30~45 damage.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

While not usable by players, Munchie can use this ability after eating Cool cheese. It is also used by Ice queens who can make it hit hard with their Tension, as well as Imps, Minidemons, and Shadows once again.

Dragon Quest IX[]

An enemy only skill, it is used by Salamarauders in battle.

Dragon Quest X[]

Acting the same as in previous titles, it is used by Ruggy, Fuyuhoheis and Mysterious Armed Ogres, as well as Sizzards once again.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is used by Miasmas, Chillanodons, Dragon slimes, and Jarvis in battle.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Series[]

Reappearing from the first Battle Road onwards, it is the red button skill for Imps, Cross eyes, and Rockin' Rockhoppers, and the blue button skill for Drag Racers, acting the same as in previous appearances. If paired with the player in the Priest vocation, it will become Playful in the case of Cross Eye or Swoosh in the case of the Rockin' Rockhopper.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Learned by Goonache goodies at level 14 and already learned by Imps, Skelegons, Freezing Fogs, Silhouettes, Powie Yowies, Jade dragons, Sculptrices, Aggrosculptures, Quayhorses, and Dragon Slimes when they are recruited, it acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 8 MP to use. A scroll of this ability can also be obtained by clearing Episode 2 of Green dragon and Kisser's Battle Roads, while 3 more can be bought from the Swap Shop for 750 DQIV Medals each.
