Dragon Quest IX[]
Making its main series debut, it is activated by skills such as Back Atcha, Counter Wait, and Rough 'n' Tumble, as well as Auto Counter via the 'Warrior's Workbook'.
Dragon Quest X[]
Acting the same as in IX, it is activated by skills such as Be Like Water as well as Back Atcha, Counter Wait, and Rough 'n' Tumble once again. It can also be learned by investing 7 skill points into a recruited Hellbound Horror’s Evil Underworld Law skill tree.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is activated by skills like Whipping Ploy when Sylvando uses Whipping Boy and after investing 12 skill points into the Luminary's Swordmastery Character Builder, as well as Back Atcha, Be Like Water, Counter Wait, and Rough 'n' Tumble once again. It is also used by Midnight horknights, Grublins, Horknights, Honeyhead horknights, Horknight watchmen, and Gloomy grublins gone Vicious in the PS4 version and Definitive Edition's 3D mode.
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2[]
Making its debut, it is activated by a combination of Pincushion and Cop Out, doubling the direct damage of an attack back at the enemy.

Dragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
Activated by pressing R2 (ZR in the Nintendo Switch port) when Alena is near an attacking enemy, she dodges and counters the enemy in battle. In the sequel, it is also used by Lazarel and Teresa when they are wielding claws.
