Cutting Edge (AKA Smashing Slash and Slashing Edge) is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest III 2D-HD[]
Only appearing in the game's 2D-HD Remake, it is learned by Warriors at level 48 and costs 14 MP to use.
Dragon Quest X[]
Making its debut, it is learned by investing 100 skill points into the Greatsword skill tree, and can deal 2.7 to 2.8 times the damage of a normal attack to an enemy. Its damage output has been strengthened as the game's updates go on, and can also be enhanced with the Master Orb system from the latter half of Version 3 onwards. In addition, it can also be learned by recruited Golems and Killing machines by investing 40 skill points into their Greatsword skill trees, as well as investing 13 skill points into the Warrior's Greatsword skill tree from 6.2 onwards. It costs 3 MP to use, and is also used by the Dark Berserker, Brigitte, and Silent Incarnation in battle. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by investing 9 skill points into the Hero and Hussar's Greatsword skill trees, and is also used by Rascal, but costs 4 MP to use.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Learned by investing 10 skill points into the Luminary and Hendrik's Greatsword Character Builder, it costs 8 MP to use, and deals about 157%~225% damage to a single enemy, but it cannot land a critical hit. It is also used alongside Erik's Sleeper Hit for the Edge of Sleep Pep Power and Serena's Deliverance for the Blight of the Living Dead Pep Power.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[]
Known as Smashing Slash, it is learned by Donkey xotes and Captain catastrophes at level 14, Stainless scrappers at level 11, Putrefidos at level 10, Priest knights at level 16, Hoodlums at level 22, Swordmaster Oren at level 15, and already learned by Soul moles when they are recruited. It deals slashing damage to one enemy for 1.6 times the damage of a normal attack, and costs 19 MP to use.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[]
Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
Learned by Terry, it costs 11 MP to use and acts the same as in X, with its power upgrading to Super Cutting Edge, and Über Cutting Edge, respectively.
Dragon Quest Walk[]
Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is learned at level 8 when wielding Pankraz's sword and Saber of destruction, level 10 when wielding the Zenithian sword, and level 15 when wielding Erdrick's sword, costing 7 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Tact[]
Learned by Skeleton soldiers, Robbin' huddles, and Axesauruses at level 22, Squidzillas at level 31, and already learned by Night clubbers when they are recruited, it acts the same as in Super Light, and costs 20 MP to use. A scroll of this ability can be obtained by clearing Typeless Upgrade on Ultra difficulty and Stage 4 of Gyldenbritches's Battle Road and Stage 7 of Kiefer, Belleau & Cabot, and Sweet Troll's Battle Roads.
