The Dark Army is the army lead by Hadlar when he was the Dark Lord.
The same name was used for Vearn's army, with Hadlar as its Dark Commander.
It is constituted of 6 Legions of monsters, each lead by a Legion Commander.
- The Furfang Legion is led by the Beast King Crocodine, including animal family, plant family, bug family
- The Undead Legion is led by the Dark Swordsman Hyunckel, including skeleton family, zombie, undead family
- The Blizzblaze Legion is led by the Blizzblaze General Flazzard, including dancing flame, frostburn, Magmalice, Firn fiend and rockbomb
- The Dragon Legion is led by the Dragon Master General Baran, including green dragon, ethereal serpent and orochi family
- The Mystic Legion is led by the Mystic Bishop Zaboera, including mage family, lump wizard, madusa, muddy hand and Heyedra
- The Shadow Legion is led by the Shadow Vizier Mystvearn, including dark skeleton, shade, restless armour and smog
The Dark Commander also has his own elite guard, including Archdemons and Gargoyles
Three Legion Commanders were appointed by Vearn: Mystvearn, Baran and Hyunckel
Each Legion Commander is superior to Hadlar in their forte. For instance, Crocodine is physically stronger. Hyunckel was also shown to be superior in close combat and Zaboera is reputed as the most cunning.
At the first meeting of the Six Commanders, when the Sovereign Rock Castle was completed about a year before Dai's journey began, Flazzard became known as Blitz Captain of the Dark Army for being the one who caught the Infernal Emblem that Vearn incased in fire.
In film 3, 6 Legion Generals are shown to be led by the Strategist of the Dark Army, the shadow of the Dark Commander Hadlar.
