Decelerate is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.
Description[]
Lowers the agility of one enemy.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest IX[]
Making its main series debut, it is learned by Armamentalists at level 10 and costs 3 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest X[]
Learned by Thieves at level 3 and by all Slime monsters in the Slurpodrome, it increases an enemy's action interval by 1 level in the former and decreases the speed of a rival slime in 1st place for a period of time in the latter. It costs 2 MP to cast, and is also used by Hearts of Darkness. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by the Hero in the Thief vocation at level 3 and is already learned by Distan when he joins the party, in addition to being cast by his adoptive daughter when she temporarily fights alongside the party, lowering 1 enemy's agility just like in previous games.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Learned by Veronica and Sylvando when they join the party, it now lowers an enemy's agility by 2 levels instead of 1, but otherwise acts the same as in previous appearances. It costs 2 MP to cast once again, and is also used by Drohl drones, Succubats, Boodiful Wizards, and Vampire succubats gone Vicious in battle against their enemies.
Dragon Warrior Monsters[]
Called Slow in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 3 with 16 MP and 14 Intelligence. It grows into SlowAll when the monster reaches level 7 with 32 MP and 28 Intelligence. It is learned naturally by the catfly, droll, fairyrat, goategon, madplant and putrepup.
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2[]
Slow now requires 26 Intelligence to learn and 51 Intelligence to upgrade. It is naturally learned by the pillowrat.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart[]
Slow can be learned by confetti, mommonja, goategon, grand shark, droll, mad plant, goopi, and putre pup.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[]
Decelerate can be learned by applying 6 skill points to either the Saboteur or Trickster skill tree.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Joker 2 Professional[]
Decelerate can still be learned from Saboteur and Trickster. It can also be learned from Flute Warrior for 20 points or from Speedster for 17 points.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3/Joker 3 Professional[]
Decelerate can be learned by the following skillsets:
- Bandit SP (60 points)
- Barnstormer+ (10 points)
- Enfeebler (30 points)

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]
Decelerate reduces one monster's agility by 80% for 3 MP, with a base success chance of 60% and a maximum success chance of 80% at 3,999 wisdom. The spell is learned through the Choreographer, Enfeebler, Graveheart, Speedster, Thrill-Seeker, and Tongue Twister talents.

Dragon Quest Walk[]
Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by equipping the Drohl Drone, Platypunk, and Zumeanie Hearts, and by recruited Platypunks and Muddy fingers at level 10. It costs 5 MP for players to cast, and 13 MP for recruited monsters to cast.
Dragon Quest Tact[]
Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is already learned by Big badboons, Elysium birds, Rotten cottons, Blood mummies, Gem jamborees, and Claria when they are recruited, costing 9 MP to cast.
