Derk

Derk is a minor character in Dragon Quest XI.

Appearance[]

Derk has brown hair and eyes. He wears a green striped coat and orange scarf over his blue tunic. He also has a necklace, orange pouch and brown clogs.

Personality[]

It's unclear what he was like before meeting the luminary but he is caring for others. He's also cunning enough to keep others from getting hurt indirectly. He's also quite the businessman.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Derk is one of Erik's friends from his thieving days, even participating in an adventure to find the flaming ice sword, which led them to the Thieves' Cage and after a confrontation with the mayor, obtaining the Fun-Size Forge. Later, they stole the Red Orb from Heliodor and stashed it in their spot downtown. However, Erik is later captured by the guards and Derk gives the Red Orb back, getting money to start up his own shop. When Erik and the Luminary break out of the dungeon, Erik accosted his friend thinking he betrayed him, though Derk was actually bribing the guards with his shop's profits so they could see each other again. He then informs Erik that the Orb is in The Kingsbarrow and wishes him well on his quest. When Yggdrasil has fallen, he and his wife Opal are part of the refugees in the Last Bastion, opening a shop to sell items. In the 3rd act, he is among the citizens present for the Luminary's victory feast of obtaining the Sword of Light. After Erdwin's Lantern descends, he is captured by a Hades condor gone Malicious on the Cobblestone Tor, but is saved by the party and gives them a Spectralite as thanks. He later sells the most powerful items, being one of the people Gemma needs to rebuild Cobblestone.
