Deroline is a character in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai.
Profile[]
He appears at the first story arc, travelling to Dermline Island with the rest of the Fake Heroes looking for the Golden Metal Slime, Dai's friend.
After being scared by the monster of the island, Zulpon had the idea to ask Dai for a tour (who was thinking they were real heroes). While Dai went to get Gome-chan, Brass noticed their evil aura and accused them of being charlatans. With their identity revealed, the Fake Heroes attacked the innocent monsters and kidnapped Gome.
The band gave the Golden Metal Slime to King Shinana as a present, who not knowing of the gift's origin, offered gold as a reward and a party at the castle as a homage for their acts.
During the party, they notice that Zulpon is missing just as Dai appeared with his monsters. The celebration is ruined as the monsters start to attack. Dai rescues Gome and defeats Masopho and Heroh Heroh using the information he got by interrogating Zulpon. However, Deroline strikes back with Frizz, saying that unfortunaly for Dai he has no weaknesses.
According to the manga, Dai is defeated, having to use a capsule with various monsters inside to turn the tables. But according to the 1991 anime, Dai manages to disarm Derolin with a candle.
Zulpon appears at the last moment with her warden slimes as hostages. In the anime Dai blinds everyone with a light ball as a distraction while in the manga they fuse instantly into a king slime. Deroline is then captured in a capsule and finally defeated.
In the 2020 version, in the first episode he fights Dai in the king's boat and doesn't say anything about having no weakness. He is defeated by a green dragon and then sucked into a capsule.
After that, Deroline and his friends wash their hands from thievery, and started honest work in Romos, but when the Archfiend's army invaded, they took advantage of gullible people by defeating inoffensive monsters and receiving a reward by it.
He meets with Dai again at a hotel and asks for forgiveness. The next day, he runs away when Crocodine invades the capital. He and the fake heroes appear again during the celebration of Dai, Maam and Popp victory.
He and the rest of his companions appears some time later to help Dai by going after the bomb in the last Vearn Pillar guarded by a Jamirus.
After Vearn's defeat, The Fake Heroes start to work under Matoriv.
