The Dig Site is a dungeon of Dragon Quest VII; it is located in the Roamer region of the world in the present day, where once in the past, the Roamer Encampment of the Roamer tribe made a stop.
Story[]
After returning from the Roamer Encampment in the past, the party found the dig site in the present, the Roamers having presumably gone somewhere else. Now, an archaeological dig site had appeared, with a charge of 5 gold in order to visit and see the archeologists latest find, an enormous skull with a pair of gold horns on its head. The significance of the skull would not become apparent to the party until after they visited Al-Balad, where they learned that the skull once belonged to a local sacred Great Serpent, a great serpent-like dragon that protected Al-Balad's Nihil river.
Needing to resurrect the creature by placing its skull back into the Nihil's waters, the party explained their need for the skull to Dr. Digsby, the lead archaeologist in charge of the Dig Site; while apprehensive about it, Dr. Digsby believed the party's story after they shown him proof through the Seal of the Sands, accompaning them to the past through the Shrine of Mysteries, along with the skull, later deciding to stay in the Al-Balad of the past in order to study its civilization.
After the party was joined by a member of the Roamers tribe, Aishe, an underground cave was discovered at the Site during an excavation; later, after all of the lands of the world were unsealed and the party acquired the Skystone from the Divine Shrine, monsters began appearing in the cave and attacking people, putting the archeologists in danger. As such, King Donald of Estard sent the party there in order to eliminate the threat; once there, the party sadly found multiple corpses of the dig site workers and archaeologists as they ventured deep into the cavern, eventually coming across a mysterious pedestal like the ones found in the Shrine of Mysteries, surrounded by a pool of lava. Using their Mysterious Fragments, the party was sent into the past thanks to this pedestal, arriving to the Malign Shrine, the previous lair of none other than the Demon King Orgodemir himself, where the party defeated him when he was fresh out of his "victorius" battle against the Almighty.
