Etymology[]

A dogū is a clay figurine that was popular in Japan from about 14,000 BCE to 400 BCE, created for unknown purposes.

The creature's name is a play on the phrase "dirty dog", used to describe a person with a dangerous, subversive, or [sexually] perverse demeanour.
