Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia was a mobile turn-based strategy RPG developed by Team Ninja of Koei Tecmo Games and published by Square Enix with assets from Square Enix's flagship Final Fantasy franchise. Based loosely on Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, an arcade-style battle royale fighting game, players take part in mission-based combat using their choice of party from over 150 characters in the franchise's 35-year history. While it proved extremely popular during its more than six-year run, Opera Omnia eventually succumbed to quality-of-service issues and was discontinued as of 29 February 2024.

Synopsis[]

Opera Omnia tells the story of a world created by two gods, Spiritus and Materia, at the behest of an omnipotent crystal in order to give their chosen warriors a place to rest from the strife of never-ending conflict. The creation of this world awakens a guardian moogle named Mog, who acts as an arbiter between the gods and evaluates each warrior's worthiness to defend the world as a whole. The gods' new world, created from the memories of those chosen, is threatened by the sudden appearance of dimensional distortions known as Torsions, which also spawn monsters and threaten calamity to the warriors' home worlds. The forces of good and evil must now band together to restore order to the gods' realm of respite, with Mog as their guide throughout.

Connections to Dragon Quest[]

On 13 October 2020, Dragon Quest of the Stars played host to the Global-exclusive collaborative event "The Torsion in Our Stars". In return, Opera Omnia was issued a set of four multiplayer stamps featuring a funghoul, a healslime with a slime, a slime knight, and a slime stack.
