Dodgy Dance is a recurring dance skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Increases the user's evasion by a substantial amount.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake[]

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is learned by the Hero at level 10, and costs 4 MP to use once again.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[]

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is learned by Princeton at level 8 and already learned by Matilda when she joins the Scions of Erdrick full-time. It costs 4 MP to use once again and is also used by Sea scorpions, as well as Hoodlums once again.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[]

Only appearing in the game's HD-2D Remake, it is learned by Erdrick at level 13. It costs 4 MP to use, and is used by Hoodlums and Arcticores.

Dragon Quest VI[]

Making its debut, it is learned by advancing to either Rank 2 of the Dancer vocation or Rank 4 of the Martial Artist vocation boosting the character's evasion to 50% for 2~3 turns and It costs 0 MP to use, and is also used by Hellstalkers in battle against their enemies.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Acting the same as in VI, it is learned by reaching Rank 5 of the Dancer vocation and Rank 3 in the Slime vocation, acting the same as in VI. It costs 0 MP to use once again, and is also used by Magic marionettes in battle.

Dragon Warrior Monsters[]

Called SideStep in the Eidos localization, it requires the monster to reach level 9 with 63 HP and 54 Agility. It is naturally learned by the dancevegi, muddoll, pillowRrat and slabbit.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2[]

The requirement to learn SideStep are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the inverzon, landowl and wildape.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[]

Dodgy Dance can be learned from:

  • Bounty Hunter (10 points)
  • Dancer (4 points)
  • Guerrilla (51 points)
  • Speedster (19 points)
  • Thief (70 points)
  • Wind Blower (16 points)

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Joker 2 Professional[]

Dodgy Dance can no longer be learned from Bounty Hunter, and the point requirement for Speedster has changed. It can now be learned from:

  • Dual duellers (5 points)
  • Sagittar (5 points)
  • Speedster (25 points)
  • Über Healer (13 points)

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]

Dodgy Dance costs just one MP and doubles evasion for 4~7 turns, stacking with the Ace Evader, Artful Dodger, Evasive Impulse, and Supreme Sidestepper traits, and is voided by the Dodge Denier trait. It is learned via the Altruist, Cutpurse, Fuzzy Thinker, Musclehead, Party Monster, Pop Idol, Rockin’ Roller, Speedster , Supreme Healer, and Vexologist talents.
