For the Troll character from Dragon Quest Heroes II, see Donk (Troll).

Donk is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series. When cast, it reduces an enemy's HP by a fixed amount. Resistance to this spell is based on accuracy, rather than damage mitigation. Its successor, Kadonk, affects a wider range of enemies.

The spell itself first appeared in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. However, in the manga, the spell itself was gravity-based and creates a high-pressure gravity field to attack the opponent.

Description[]

Reduces an enemy's HP by a fixed amount, with resistance to this spell is based on accuracy, rather than damage mitigation.

In the manga and its anime adaptions, the spell itself was gravity-based and creates a high-pressure gravity field to attack the opponent.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest X[]

Donk makes its main series debut as an enemy exclusive spell used by Scarlet Knights and Illusion Knights. It costs 18 MP to cast, and will deal 75% of a character's maximum HP as damage.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Joker 2 Professional[]

Making its game debut, Donk is learned through the Cursader, Muspell, Diabolist, Rigor Mortex, Bjorn, and Ruin skill sets and costs 12 MP to cast. It affects one group of enemies, and deals 25% of the target's current HP. As such, the spell will deal immense damage if a target is at full health, and inflict paltry wounds if they are already weakened.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D/SP[]

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key/SP[]

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3/Joker 3 Professional[]

Acting the same as in previous Monsters games, it requires 2 MP to cast, but now only reduces the target's HP by 1/8th.

Dragon Quest Heroes[]

Donk makes its only appearance in the game as a spell used by Shadroth in the final battle, though instead of damaging enemies, the Lord of Night merely lifts his foes via gravity.

Dragon Quest: Monster Parade[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is learned by Lunaticks, Whackolytes, and Shadow slimes, costing 12 MP to cast once again.

Dragon Quest Walk[]

Learned at level 30 when wielding the Magic Booster, it costs 41 MP to cast and will inflict heavy damage to all enemies.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Appearing as Popp's Coup de Grâce, it is learned at level 74 and deals heavy spell damage to all enemies in range, while potentially binding them. It costs 146 MP to cast and requires 3 turns to be activated, but can only be used once.

Dragon Quest Treasures[]

Learned by Umbras, Wight Kings, and Emerald king slimes, it creates a gravity well around one enemy, while inflicting magic gravity damage to any enemy that enters it. It costs 4 MP to cast.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[]

A spell created by Matoriv himself, it uses gravity to crush an opponent and is powerful enough to defeat even 5 Green dragons.
