Downtown Heliodor is a city in Dragon Quest XI. A shantytown located below the greater city of Heliodor, it is home for many of the less well-to-do. Because thieves and rogues are also known to be based in this area, it is cordoned off with guards on watch.
Overview
Downtown Heliodor is noted as a hangout for thieves and other shady characters, resting in the trench below Heliodor's city walls. The solitary street is lined with ramshackle buildings and pavilions. A single gate prevents downtown residents from crossing into the main city, but the guard is seen to be easily bribed and distracted.
Story
A Hero Comes of Age
Following their escape from the dungeons of Heliodor Castle, the Hero and Erik infiltrate Downtown Heliodor in order to find the Heliodor's Red Orb, the theft of which had landed Erik in the dungeons in the first place. With both the orb, and Erik's partner-in-crime Derk missing, the pair consult Ruby, the local innkeeper, and find that Derk was now living in the city's upper-class district. The pair then made their way into the main city by finding a way to occupy the guard blocking their path.
Rise of the Lord of Shadows
Following Yggdrasil's Fall, Heliodor was overtaken by the demonic forces of Mordegon and left in complete ruin. It remains this way until Mordegon's defeat, where the survivors return and begin to rebuild.
In Search of Lost Time
With the Luminary having travelled back in time to prevent Yggdrasil's Fall, Heliodor's destruction was averted.
