Dragon Quest Heroes, fully titled Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below (lit. Dragon Quest Heroes: The Dark Dragon and the World Tree Castle) is a Dragon Quest hack and slash spinoff game based off of the Dynasty Warriors series.
Plot[]
The setting is the peaceful country Elsaize. People and monsters lived in harmony until the monsters mysteriously went berserk. Humanity is surrounded by the monster armies and use anything they can to survive. The nefarious Velasco schemes to plunge the world into darkness by taking control of all the monsters in order to release the darkness dragon Shadroth: Lord of the Night.

- This was the first Dragon Quest game to be localized in Taiwan.
- During the first cutscene, its possible to see the prizes of the shooting gallery; these prizes include stuffed doll versions of the 5 non-Human races of Dragon Quest X: the Poppets, the Ogres, the Wetlings, and the Dragon Quest X versions of the Dwarf and Elf races, both of which do appear in Heroes under a different guise.
