The Echo flute (formally Echoing Flute) is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. Its main function is to emit a signal when a seal or orb is nearby.

Dragon Quest II

The Echo flute is given to The Hero by a man in Rippleport after he retrieves the Sunken treasure.

Dragon Quest III

It's found in one of four chests after falling into the center pit, on the top floor of The Tower of Arp.

Dragon Quest VIII

The flute is given by Empyrea after the events in Empycchu. It is used to locate the orbs left behind by the remains of the Seven Sages.
