Endor is a kingdom and castle town in Dragon Quest IV. A large, bustling town, it serves a prominent role in the game, being visited numerous times by several different characters.
Synopsis[]
Endor features a variety of different shops and businesses, including a casino and eventually, a vault/bank. In the NES game, it is the only location with these facilities. In the north of the city is the castle and beyond that, the coliseum; it is here where the Endor Tournament is held during Chapter 2.
Beyond the city itself, the wider kingdom includes the Cistern Chapel, a teleportal shrine leading to Zamoksva, and a tunnel leading to Casabranca.
Coliseum[]
The location of the Endor Tournament, the coliseum is accessed from the castle. It contains a shop, although this is only present in Chapter 2.
In Chapter 5, the coliseum serves as the wedding venue of Prince Regan and Princess Veronica. It is closed at night.

Chapter 2[]
Endor is first visited in Chapter 2, during the Endor Tournament. Alena travels to the kingdom with the intention of entering the contest to test her strength.
While in town, she hears whispers of a ferociously strong contender by the name of Psaro the Manslayer, as well as learning that the king has foolishly offered his daughter's hand in marriage as first prize in the tournament. Alena has an audience with the king, where he pleads with her to win the tournament so that he doesn't have to grant the promised prize.
The Tsarevna succeeds in defeating her first five opponents, and is due to go face-to-face with the notorious Psaro in the final bout, when he fails to show; she is automatically declared winner as a result. After being thanked by the king and princess, Alena and her entourage set off on their journey back home.
Chapter 3[]
Torneko Taloon sets out for Endor with hopes of opening his own shop, but gets caught up in the impending war betweeen the kingdom and neighbouring Ballymoral. Tasked with delivering a letter to Endor's Princess Veronica by Ballymoral's Prince Regan, the merchant succeeds in getting an audience with the royals. After it transpires that Regan and Veronica are secret lovers, the King of Endor requests that King Shamus of Ballymoral approve of their marriage, in an attempt to avert war; the plan succeeds, and Torneko is granted permission to conduct business in the town as thanks for his role in the affair.
Torneko is later commissioned by the king for a set of steel broadswords and iron armour, for a sum of 60,000 gold coins. The merchant uses his fee to fund the construction of a tunnel between Endor and the neighbouring kingdom of Casabranca.
Chapter 5[]
The Hero first meets Maya and Meena Mahabala in Endor; the sisters having arrived in town after fleeing from Havre Léon.
Realizing the Hero's identity, the sisters insist on accompanying them on their journey. With Torneko away on his travels, his wife has converted their shop into a bank, offering to hold the party's spare gold and, in the NES version, items.

Version differences[]
- Though they aren't needed after fighting the Abominable Showman, the remake gives you the option to use medicinal herbs after the battle.
- In the NES version, the number of steel broadswords and iron armour you have to supply to the king is 7 of each. In the remakes, it's 6.
- Tessie's vault only acts as a bank in the remakes, due to the unlimited capacity of the bag.
- The added Chapter 6 begins in Endor.

- Endor is one of the few locations to retain its name between the NES version and the remakes.
- Prior to the casino's reopening in Chapter 3, Ragnar McRyan can be found in the area looking for a lead on the Hero.
- The town Endor is a pun off the Star Wars location Endor, the fictional forest moon which is home to the Ewoks. It is also a world play on Endor, the Quenya name for Middle-earth, in the fictional world of J. R. R. Tolkien.
