Crack is a recurring offensive spell in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III, it has become a staple commonly learned by Mages and other users of offensive magic in the series.

Description[]

Crack is often depicted as a sudden growth of ice crystals that cut into a single enemy. The crystals become larger, more abundant, and far more chilling in appearance as the spell family advances, extending its target range along with its power.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest III[]

Making its debut, it is learned by Mages and Sages at level 5, dealing 25~35 points of damage. It costs 3 MP to cast, and is also used by Drac the Vlads, Mushroom mages, Shell slimes, and Mermaniacs in battle.

It is also used by Blinksters, Crack-billed platypunks, Pterygotuses, and Prima Donna, as well as Mushroom Mages once again. The reason for the lowered damage output in this entry is the concern over difficulty balance in the beginning of the second chapter. In addition, it is also used by Bloody hands in the remakes.
