A sabrecat is a monster who appears in Dragon Quest II. The Sabrecat would later be almost completely supplanted by its much more popular cousin, the great sabrecat.

The sabrecat is a cat monster that looks like a smilodon from the Prehistoric era. The ancestors of the great sabrecats both figuratively and literally, sabrecats resemble the smilodons of the real world Plestiocene era and the maneless Tsavo lions.
