The Final Boss of each Dragon Quest game is the ultimate adversary which the protagonists necessitate to defeat in order to complete the main story and, usually, bring peace to the land. Although they are the utmost source of strife and, most of the time, in command of vast armies of monsters that threaten the world, the final boss is not always the strongest foe the heroes might face in combat, on the contrary many of them are surpassed in strength by an optional Superboss. While not a skill unique to them, a trademark ability that the majority of the final bosses possesses is the ability to achieve different forms during battle, usually growing in strength with each transformation.
A strong portion of them are also known as powerful archfiends.
Main Series[]
Dragon Quest[]
The Final Boss of the very first Dragon Quest is the Dragonlord, the Master of masters and de-facto leader of monster-kind in the land of Alefgard. Before the events of the story, he stole the Sphere of Light to conceal the kingdom of Alefgard in a veil of darkness, destroyed the city of Damdara and besieged all the other cities with legions of monsters. That all came to an end after the descendant of Erdrick came to his Castle, intending to slay the Dragonlord. During the final battle, the Hero fought against the Dragonlord, after declining his offer to rule half the world. However it wasn't over as the Dragonlord revealed his true form and did battle with the Hero. After defeating the would-be conqueror, the Sphere of Light is returned to its rightful place and the Hero parts with Alefgard's crown princess, Gwaelin, to the outside lands to found his own kingdom.
Dragon Quest II[]
The Final Boss of Dragon Quest II is Malroth, a demonic deity of destruction. After bypassing the illusory world he had created around his fortress in order to trick them, the Scions of Erdrick confronted the High Priest Hargon, a religious zealot obsessed with purging the world of Torland by destroying it with his legion of believers (later known as the Children of Hargon). Defeated despite his best efforts, Hargon decides to sacrifices himself to summon his god, Malroth, the Master of Destruction, to finish off the Heroes and make sure evil conquers all. True to his title of "God of Destruction", Malroth was a powerful foe and one who unlike the Dragonlord, didn't need multiple forms. Capable of healing himself and altering his stats, the Scions of Erdrick really had their work cut out for them as they faced him in battle.
Dragon Quest III[]
In Dragon Quest III, after travelling all around the world in order to defeat the leader of the attacking monster armies, the cruel Archfiend Baramos, the Hero and their party discover that, despite him being the most feared monster in their world, he was merely a servant to a much more powerful and dangerous demon, Zoma, the Lord of the Underworld, in truth the lands of Alefgard and Torland which he has enslaved in eternal darkness after having defeated the goddess Rubiss and transformed her into a statue.
Having done a one-way trip to Alefgard in order to defeat the source of all evil, the party confronts Zoma and vanquishes him with the Sphere of Light bequeathed to them by the Dragon Queen, the hero earning the title of Erdrick thus setting the stage for the future events of the Erdrick trilogy.
Dragon Quest IV[]
The Final Boss of Dragon Quest IV is Psaro the Manslayer, the monstrous transformation of the game's main villain, the demon Psaro, ruler of monster-kind. Psaro always had doubts about humans and he pondered about what to do with them, but he began relentlessly attacking them only after being deceived by his subordinate Aamon into thinking that they murdered his lover, the elven woman Rose. Blinded by grief and his misguided hatred, Psaro became obsessed with unleashing the power of Estark, the Secret of Evolution and making it his own in hopes to revive her. After becoming the ultimate life form however, he lost all of his memories except his vow to destroy all humans, but is stopped by the Hero and the Chosen before he could do so. While originally identical to Estark in appearance, as the fight proceeds Psaro's body regenerates and begins to evolve, eventually assuming a completely different and grotesque form.
Alternate Ending (Remake Only)[]
The remakes changes Aamon's fate so that he survives his initial fight with the Hero. As such, after Psaro is reverted back to normal by a resurrected Rose and Aamon's treachery against him is revealed, he then becomes the true final boss and is fought in Chapter 6. Aamon had hoped to seize control of the monster army once the Hero's party and Psaro killed each other, but upon seeing that they instead joined forces against him, he uses the Secret of Evolution on himself to take on a stronger form, known as Ashtaroth. He then follows the same pattern of bodily evolution of Psaro, but with the key difference of Aamon being able to retain his original intellect. With Aamon defeated once and for all the world can return to peace, with Psaro quietly retiring to a peaceful life together with Rose.
Dragon Quest V[]
The Final Boss in Dragon Quest V is Grandmaster Nimzo. A former Loftinian who grew arrogant from his raw intelligence and power, as well as Aamon's last disciple, he used the Secret of Evolution and became a demon-god and is now the sovereign of the land of Nadiria. Knowing that only the prophesied legendary Hero could possibly stop his plans of conquering the whole world, Nimzo founds a religious cult, the supposedly benevolent Order of Zugzwang lead by his most loyal minions, King Korol and Bishop Ladja, to act as a decoy in an attempt to forestall the Legendary Hero's coming and eliminate him as soon as they reveal themselves. Fearing the Zenithian bloodline, he also shoots down from the skies the floating castle of Zenithia. Eventually the Hero's mother is captured in Mt. Zugzwang, which sparks a long chain of events ultimatly leading to their final confrontation.
Dragon Quest VI[]
The Final Boss in Dragon Quest VI is Mortamor. Creator of the Dread Realm, it is from here that he unleashes his most powerful servants, the Dread Fiends Murdaw, Jamirus, Gracos, and Dhuran, in order to conquer both the Lower World and the Upper World. After two confrontations with the party in separate forms, the Archfiend sheds his body apart, assuming a third and final form, attacking directly with just his head and hands. However, even after becoming more powerful, Mortamor is still no match for the Hero and his party. Everyone soon rejoices the heroes' victory over the Archfiend.
Alternate Ending[]
Nokturnus is technically a superboss, but one that changes the ending upon defeat Defeating him will give the player a slightly modified version of the ending somewhat akin to how defeating Ashtaroth in 4's remake modifies its ending. The differences include Nokturnus defeating Mortamor for the party and Terry's segment in the post credits gets changed to him attempting to fight Noktunrus in a 1v1.
Dragon Quest VII[]
The Final Boss in Dragon Quest VII is Orgodemir. An incredibly strong and wicked demon, Orgodemir sealed away in darkness most of the landmasses of the world, leaving his forces of loyal followers to torment the population with all kinds of cruel tortures, then he personally challenged and supposedly destroyed the creator of the world, The Almighty. He was however, defeated shortly after his alleged victory by the time-travelling Hero's party, but his spirit was not vanquished and he spent the following centuries tricking the Roamers in reviving his body by impersonating The Almighty, the real person the Roamers were trying to resurrect.
Ultimately succeeding in doing so, he briefly continued his deception while trying to rebuild his army and a malign fortress hidden under what was supposed to be the most beautiful church of the world, the Cathedral of Light. After his deception is revealed to the whole world thanks the intervention of the Four Elemental Spirits, the Demon King escapes into the Cathedral of Blight awaiting his enemies in the throne room. The final battle took a gruesome toll on Orgodemir's body, with his flesh literally decaying and falling apart from his bones the more damage he sustained. Upon his ultimate defeat, Orgodemir curses The Almighty Numen and all those who follow him and disintegrates, this time for good, leaving the world restored as it was meant to be and free of his toxic influence.
Dragon Quest VIII[]
The Final Boss in Dragon Quest VIII is Lord Rhapthorne, the Lord of Darkness, a sadistic demon who planned to recreate and rule over the original chaotic world by forcibly merging again the colorful World of Light with the mostly black-and-white World of Darkness, which he had already conquered. Imprisoned inside the Godbird Sceptre by the Seven Sages, Rhapthorne spent ages sealed inside Castle Trodain before being freed by would-be wizard Dhoulmagus, who was unaware of the true danger of the relic he tried to steal. Rhapthorne quickly possessed him and since then he set out on a quest to murder the last living descendants of the Sages in order break his imprisonment, swiftly overtaking the mind whoever touched the sceptre, which also included Jessica, a dog, and the Templar's captain Marcello, until none of the descendants remained alive.
With all of his targets perished, Rhapthorne was able to reunite his spirit with his body, which was hidden inside the goddess statue on The Holy Island of Neos, and make his flying dark fortress, the Black Citadel, rise again from beneath the island. After his first defeat at the hands of the Hero and his party, Rhapthorne decided to absorb the citadel into himself, transforming into a stronger being: a large, bloated devil looming over the land. However, his reign of terror wouldn't live long enough as he is defeated by the party while riding on back of the godbird Empyrea.
Dragon Quest IX[]
The Final Boss in Dragon Quest IX is Corvus in his demonic state. A Celestrian imprisoned by the ruthless Gittish Empire in order to extort the secrets of his powers, he fell into madness and hatred for mortals after years of torture, beliving he was betrayed by his human lover Serena, when in reality, it was her father. After centuries of imprisonment, with his prison cell literally crumbling around him, the dark powers he was gaining reached a breaking point and finally burst, damaging the Observatory in the process. He also revived Barbarus, the evil dragon of darkness killed by Greygnarl some 300 years earlier, along with the whole Gittish Empire, which had crumbled in the meantime, so that he could destroy the mortals of the Protectorate. When King Godwyn and the Triumgorate are defeated and he is freed by his former student's own student, he swiftly defeats them taking advantage of the fact that Celestrians cannot take arms against their superiors and changes the Realm of the Almighty into the Realm of the Mighty. Ultimately, his hatred for mortals is dispelled after the misunderstanding with Serena is cleared and he peacefully passes over in the afterlife together her spirit.
Dragon Quest X[]
Due to each expansion being released separately, Dragon Quest X has technically multiple final bosses.
Version 1: Awakening of the Five Tribes[]
The first Final Boss in Dragon Quest X is Nelgel the Netherfiend, the giant demonic form of Nelgel the Netherlord. A demon created through a ritual of evil performed 500 years ago, Nelgel endangered the world of Astoltia by isolating the human continent of Rendacia behind a veil of darkness.
Following the destruction of their home village Tenton, the Hero, who had returned from the dead by reincarnating their soul inside the body of a recently deceased individual from another race, began travelling the rest of Astoltia, in order to find a way to confront Nelgel and re-open a road towards Rendacia through the dark veil that was sealing it. After failing to defeat the Hero in his initial form, Nelgel transformed himself into a giant form by praying to the source of darkness for more power, in a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand. Upon his second defeat, which unbeknownst by the Hero came upon also thanks to the unseen help provided by Euriza, Nelgel warned of dark powers beyond his control before dying.
In the 10th anniversary sidequest, Nelgel returned back to life, stronger than before, but was nontheless beaten once again. However, as he has dominion over death, Nelgel promises that, as long as the Hero would continue to slain enemies, he will in the future rise again, leaving a menacing warning that they will meet again someday.
Version 2: The Sleeping Hero and the Guided Allies[]
The second Final Boss in Dragon Quest X is Maldragora the Worldmaker, the draconic form of Maldragora the Worldbreaker. The current ruling Great Demon King of the Netherworld, he was the one responsible behind Nelgel's actions, as Nelgel, an already powerful artificial demon on his own, allied himself with Maldragora in order to destroy Tenton, as the villagers fabled time powers were a threat for the both of them. As the Great Demon King, Maldragora was in charge of many powerful and despicable beings on his own, and when his ally Nelgel fell, he made his move, his plan being to re-create the world in his image, starting from Rendacia,
After apparently having finally disembarked on Rendacia following their victory against Nelgel, the Hero eventually discovered that they had accidentally landed in the illusory copy of the continent created by Maldragora, while the real Rendacia was on the other side. After opening a portal towards the real Rendacia thanks to the awakening of the true heroic powers of Princess Anlucia, and travelling across the real continent to both prevent its erosion from the false one as well as search of a way to reach the Demon King, the Hero was finally able to confront and defeat Maldragora, who had in the meantime empowered himself by stealing part of the powers of creation of the Goddess Luciana.
Despite his defeat, his actions ultimately re-opened a portal towards Nagaland, the ancient floating continent of the Dragon race, which was sealed away in a pocket dimension due to Nadraga's own nefarious actions. Furthermore, Maldragora's villainous legacy still continued to affect things in many different ways; for example, the illusory Rendacia he had created did not disappear into oblivion, but instead essentially became a pocket dimension on its own.
Version 3: Lore of the Ancient Dragon[]
The third Final Boss in Dragon Quest X is Nadraga; the patron deity of the Dragon tribe, after his beloved mother, Goddess Luciana, made her sacrifice in order to seal Jagonuba away, Nadraga, having lost the only person he was willing to listen to, let his pride get the better of him, convinced that the Dragons, surely superior to all other races, should be given reign over Astoltia. When his siblings, the patron deities of the other major races, rejected the idea, Nadraga, jealous of the love his youngest brother, Grand Zenus, as well the Humans he had created, received from Luciana, spitefully tried to conquer Rendacia nontheless. Stopped and bested by his siblings, Nadraga, enraged and unwilling to admit defeat, made in that moment the foolish decision of allying himself with the primordial source of all evil, Jagonuba, receiving great power, but losing most of his mind.
For his actions, after millenias of devastating war that costed the bodies of most of his siblings and made Grand Zenus fall into a never-ending slumber, the entire floating continent of Nagaland, homeland of the Dragons, was sealed away in a pocket dimension, while Nadraga himself was sealed away by furthering splitting Nagaland itself into several separate regions. He was however, ultimately freed from his seal by Patriarch Orstov, who was in truth a part of Nadraga himself that was cut off before he was sealed away, and had since then manipulated things from the shadows to achieve the unsealing of his former self, finally founding 800 years a religious cult dedicated to worship Nadraga, and then planning to use the kind Estelle as the vessel for Nadraga. Nevertheless, Nadraga was slain once and for all from his very insides, and the spirit of Patriarch Orstov, who deep down still cared for Estelle, opened a way for the Hero and their group to flee from the collapsing space, before fading away alongside his greater self, but not before some of his power was taken by a mysterious black clothed swordsman, Padre.
After Nadraga's final defeat, what originally had corrupted him, the darkness given to him by Jagonuba, spreaded all across Nagaland, possessing some monsters and transforming them into much more powerful and dangerous forms, which began to create further problems for the Dragons. However, Nadraga had anticipated this, and in one of his last benevolent acts before he was fully corrupted, he had created the Divine Beast Prify, a being that would be able to consume and neutralize the miasma, as a counter measure. Unfortunately, most of the miasma was already collected by the incarnate will of the miasma itself, Nadragle, an entity who desired nothing more than destroy everything Luciana created; luckily, it was stopped and defeated for good, but a small spliter of Nadragle, his Shock Seed, survived, and was collected by the evil Pujyu, a servant of Jagonuba, to use later to create more chaos.
Version 4: The 5000 Year Voyage to a Faraway Hometown[]
The fourth Final Boss in Dragon Quest X is Kyronos, the living manifestation of the stolen time powers of Kyurex that were sealed away in the Time Parabox, warped by evil human desires over the course of many centuries.
He brainwashed Padre, the Hero's biological father, making him awaken certain evil beings sealed away in the past, such as the Demon King Nerodus, so that Kyronos could absorb their power, become a god of time, and destroy all life, causing several time paradoxes in the process. Defeated at the hands of the Hero when he was near to completely achieve his goals, thanks to the sacrifice of Kyururu, Kyronos is essentially erased from existence, and almost everybody in Astoltia no longer remembered his menace; nevertheless, some of the damage and losses he had caused across history still persisted, and more importantly, his Shock seed survived.
This Shock seed, alongside the one from Nadragle, was later stolen by Pujyu, a servant of Jagonuba, and used to open the door to the Netherworld, which would eventually cause more pain and suffering for Astoltia, as well as for the Netherworld itself.
Version 5: Thorn Lady and the God of Destruction[]
The fifth Final Boss in Dragon Quest X is Jagonuba himself, the primordial source of darkness that since time immemorial had been the nemesis of the creator deity Goddess Luciana, and the accidental and indirect creator of the Demon race: the demonic miasma his body spewed was having such terrible effects on the land, it forced Luciana to almost completely cut off that land from Astoltia, creating the Netherworld; the demons are the descendants of the several members from the other races that were left behind, who evolved and partially corrupted, becoming the modern Demons. As a last desperate attempt from Luciana, Jagonuba's spirit was sealed away within Nalasia, but over the course of many millennia, Jagonuba nevertheless was able to command and manipulate several villains and unwitting people, particularly the past Great Demon Kings, including but not limited to, Maldragora.
Eventually, thanks to the scheming done by Pujyu, one of the Dark Deities that he had created that was able to escape his confinement 500 years ago, as well as the unfortunate misguided attempt of the Demon Oracle, in truth the Hero's sibling, to stop the conflict between the Netherworld and Astoltia, Jagonuba was able to take control of Nalasia, free himself, and reunite with his body, managing in the process even to seemingly destroy the recently re-awakened Goddess Luciana for good, and steal her powers for himself.
After a long and grueling battle, which even costed Luciana's life, Jagonuba's evil influence began to fade, having been defeated once and for all at the hands of the Hero with the help of Shaka and the entire populations of both Astoltia and the Netherworld, and the Hero, who had already been crowned Great Demon King by the Demons, finally stopped the never-ending conflict between the Netherworld and Astoltia initiated by the primordial evil, the relations between the two lands finally beginning to heal.
Version 6: Heroes of the Heavenly Stars[]
The Sixth Final Boss of Dragon Quest X is Jia Red Genos, leader of the Jia Kut Clan, an ancient invading force from beyond the stars, father of Jagonuba, and in many ways, the true evil force behind most of the events of Dragon Quest X.
Eons ago, the Jia Kut Clan, under the rule of Genos, attacked and destroyed the Eternal Cradle, the original homeworld of the Angels and Goddess Luciana, laying it to waste. Using Tenseikyo as a space vessel, a group of survivors, including Luciana, fled across the stars, and reached the primordial Astoltia, where Luciana set loose her powers of creation, shaping it in a new and fertile world. However, just before Luciana could create a magical shield that would forever mask them from the Jia Kut Clan, Jagonuba, or more correctly, Jia Gonuba, sent to track down the survivors, crashlanded on the surface of Astoltia. Since then he was locked in a never-ending combat with Luciana and her followers, which even resulted in him losing his original crystalline appearance, and become the lump of reddish flesh he is more known for.
Eventually, after one last climactic struggle, both Jagonuba and Luciana ended up extingushed; but in the meantime, the ancient corrupting red mist left behind floating around in the old ruins under Tenseikyo, dating way back to the first attack of the Jia Kut, corrupted a few Angels, who began a plot to destroy the Shield of Astoltia and call back the Jia Kut Clan, by manipulating and corrupt the Astoltian heroes that were selected to become the new patron deities, particularly, Leone.
Unfortunately, the plan worked, and the Jia Kut Clan, through Jia Lumina, found again Astoltia, marking the beginning of a desperate war for survival against the otherworldy invaders. After Jia Lumina was no more, Jia Red Genos finally revealed himself, unvealing a devastating super-weapon floating in the skies of Astoltia, that would have spelled doom to the world with just a single, full-powered shot. However thanks to the aid of Jia Rube, who rightfully felt betrayed by Genos after he tried to use her and her brother, Jia Saphir, as sacrificial pawns, resulting in Saphir's demise, the Hero and his celestial allies were able to covertly board the super-weapon. The following battle was hard fought and costed the lives of many allies, but they were successful in not only disabling it, but they also took Jia Red Genos down, ending the invasion of Astoltia.
Following the apparent death of Jia Red Genos, as he had merged with its core, the Jia Kut birthplace, the Eye of Evil, ended up subsequently destroyed in order to prevent it to violently crash on Astoltia, leaving no survivors of its passengers, as such the entire Jia Kut race was wiped out, leaving only Jia Rube, as the sole member of the species left. However, due to this, she became the new Primstone of her species by default, and was forced to inherit the will and memories of Genos. Now calling herself Rube Genos, her previous personality having been completely overwritten, the reborn Genos attempted to force a deification process, falsely promising that they would do no further harm afterwards, but was stopped by Lada Ghat and the Hero. With Rube gone, the entire race became extict, and Genos finally died for real, but not before he promised that the karma of wiping out a sentient race would catch up to the people of Astoltia.
Version 7: Door to the Future and the Slumbering Girl[]
The new threat to Astoltia after Jagonuba and his father Jia Red Genos demises turned out to be the Curse of Unmaking, a powerful anathema that consumes the Power of Creation of people and things, wiping them from history as if never existed. The Jia Kut were partially affected by the curse when they attacked the Eternal Cradle, as it was unleashed by the deity Zenus the Great Architect as a last resort against them, and with their destruction, they had now passed the curse to Astoltia itself, forcing the Hero and an Astoltian exploration team, the Ember Explorers, to travel to the Eternal Cradle, the world of Zenias, in order to put a stop to it.
Dragon Quest XI[]
The optional and true Final Boss in Dragon Quest XI is Calasmos. An ancient being born from darkness, he tried multiple times to vanquish the light of Yggdrasil. He was stopped by the Luminary Erdwin but before he could be slain for good, Calasmos brainwashed Erdwin's companion Morcant into stabbing his friend. Morcant then absorbed some of Calasmos's powers and was corrupted and reborn as the demon sorcerer Mordegon, who set out on his own quest to conquer Erdrea. Unable to put an end to Calsmos without someone able to properly wield the Sword of Light, Erdwin's remaining companions sealed away his body inside Erwin's Lantern. But Calasmos's consciousness survived in the form of a Darkling, and he spent centuries biding his time for the right moment to reclaim his body. He tried to do so after Mordegon had stolen Yggdrasil's powers for himself, but the newly born dark tyrant anticipated this and destroyed Erdwin's Lantern and Calasmos's body with it before he could be reunited with it.
But when the Luminary (who was unaware of Calasmos travelling alongside him) decided to go back in time to prevent the fall of Yggdrasil, Calasmos was able to follow him. After Mordegon was slain once and for all, Calasmos was free to reunite at last with his body, plunging Erdrea's monsters into a frenzy, while cloaking himself into a dark barrier into the sky to gather his strength. But the Luminary and his friends would defeat him for a second time thanks to the aid of the flying whale Cetacea. While initially convinced that his spirit would once again live on even if his body was destroyed, Calasmos was soon horrified when a strong light poured out from inside him, disintegrating him for good. Erdrea returned to peace, and while Yggdrasil was sure that one day the forces of evil would rise up again, she was as mush sure that courageous individuals would likewise rise to challenge them.

Dragon Quest Swords[]
In Chapter 8, the player finally comes face to face with Xiphos the Deathbringer who first engages them in their default form. When the Hero overcomes Xiphos, he transforms into a monstrous dragon-like form with multiple arms. Here, the Hero can break Xipho's shield and go on the offensive afterward. Once his second form is defeated, the Hero puts the Rorrim Mask on him, turning his body to stone and allowing the Hero to destroy him for good.
Dragon Quest Heroes[]
The final boss is Shadroth, Lord of the Night, a draconic primordial deity of darkness who was once sealed away after he betrayed the non-aggression pact that was signed between him and the goddess of light and tried to take over the world for himself. Sealed away for many centuries thanks to the power of the world tree Yggdrasil, Shadroth was freed from his slumber by the actions of the sorcerer Velasco, a deeply disturbed individual so obsessed with power of darkness that he endangerd the entire multiverse of realities in order to awaken who he considered his god, while also driving almost all monster-kind into a frenzy. Thanks to the efforts of the last of the Children of the Light, Luceus and Aurora, and the many heroes gathered to their aid across dimensions by the godbird Empyrea, Shadroth was once and for all slain and peace returned between humans and monsters.
Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
The final boss is Fractos. Originally, he was a human and together with his twin brother Unos, they respectively peacefully ruled as kings the twin realities of the World of Light and the World of Darkness. However, desiring more power for himself Fractos betrayed his twin brother, corrupting the sacred Chalice of Kings with the power of evil in order to become a monstruos demon, a ritual that ended up cursing all of his direct descendants, marking them with what effectively became his insigna. Fractos then used the superweapon Dreadbolt installed in his personal floating castle, the Black Manse, to utterly decimate the World of Darkness that his brother Unos reigned, leaving it empty and barren with the exeption for the souls of the people he had slain and his loyal monster forces. Eventually Unos was able to defeat his evil sibling but, unwilling to kill his own brother, he instead sealed him away in the now devastated World of Darkness. Fractos then spent the next one-thousand years planning his revenge. Finally breaking free of his confinement, he then manipulated the fatalistic Supreme Sovereign of the Seven Realms, King Zebion, into aiding him in his plan to spread chaos across the seven realms, causing a series of serious troubles for the descendants of his brother, Lazarel and Teresa.
Dragon Quest Builders[]
An alternate reality from the original Dragon Quest, where history took a different turn, the ultimate source of evil in Alefgard is once again the Dragonlord. When the Hero who was meant to slay the Dragonlord, instead accepted his offer to share the world dominion with him, the Master of masters was able this time to plunge the world into darkness, fragmenting the very land in several pieces and stripping humanity of the power of creation, truly bringing Alefgard to it's lowest point. However a century later, a very distant descendant of Erdrick, recently revived by the goddess Rubiss from an early death, was able to vanquish him, much to the goddess surprise, since she didn't believe he would be able to do so and only had planned for the Hero to rebuild the world to a state closer of prior of the Dragonlord takeover. Free of his reign of terror, Alefgard is finally able to rebuild itself in peace.
Dragon Quest Builders 2[]
Another reality where history has a different twist, in this world the defeat of High Priest Hargon did not spell the end of the illusory world he had created to trick the scions of Erdrick, instead it continued existing after Hargon's demise. Inside of it, what remained of the High Priest continued to scheme against the real world, trying to revive his lord and master Malroth to his full strength after having gathered here what remained of the Master of Destruction's soul. He ultimately succeeded, but before he and the Evil half of Malroth's soul could escape the illusory world and wreak havoc to the real world, they were stopped by the good half of Malroth's own soul and the Builder, a youth that Hargon himself had previously transported to the illusory world to use as a pawn in his plan to reawaken the full scope of Malroth's powers, but who ironically had proven to be his undoing when they unexpectedly formed a strong bond of friendship with the amnesiac Malroth. After an aerial battle aboard of a living mechanical vehicle known as the Buggy Buggy, Hargon is vanquished once and for all, while the evil part of Malroth's soul is neutralized and absorbed by the good half. Malroth, now effectively a divinity of good then spent the majority of his divine powers to stabilize the illusory world, rendering it real and ensuring it's survival after it's original creator complete disappearance.
Dragon Quest Treasures[]
The Final Boss of Dragon Quest Treasures is Long John Silverbones, the captain of the Thunderous Plunderers. Originally a commander of the Sylphanian army, Silverbones grew greedy and decided to desert from his position and form his gang of Sky Pirates, plundering any treasure he could get his mitts on from their original owners. Reaching Draconia attaracted by its neverending riches, Silverbones immediately set his sights on the Seven Dragonstones, necessary for reaching the now lost golden land known as La Isla Dorada, and its most valuable treasure, the Treasure of Treasures (unaware of its true nature). Pilfering all of the Dragonstones from Erik and Mia during a surprise attack, he was then confronted by the two kids at La Isla Dorada, where he was finally defeated and arrested by the Sylphanians. Nevertheless, in the post-game story he was able to escape his imprisonment, and returned to his life of plundering.
Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai[]
The game's events end roughly halfway through the 2020 anime with the fight against Sovereign Rock Castle serving as the finale. You have to fight some lesser enemies before it walks closer, allowing you to strike at its hands. He does not appear directly in the main storyline of the game, but Vearn, the final boss in the anime, does show up as a boss in a side mode.
