Firebird Throw is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VIII[]
Making its debut, it is learned by investing 32 skill points into the Hero's Boomerang skill tree, and causes up to 36 to 44 Frizz damage to all enemies for the cost of 6 MP.
Dragon Quest IX[]
This ability is learned with 58 skill points invested into the Boomerang skill tree, and costs 4 MP to use. It now targets random enemies, inflicting random fire damage 7 times, but is strong on single opponents like Sir Sanguinus.
Dragon Quest X[]
Learned by investing 88 skill points into the boomerang skill tree, it acts mostly the same as in IX, but its power is increased by 0.35 times the damage of a normal attack in the middle. It once again costs 6 MP to use, and is also learned by recruited Slimes and Pocus poppets by investing 40 skill points into their boomerang skill trees. In addition, an ice version of this skill makes its debut in this game.
Dragon Quest Heroes & Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
Isla can learn this skill by investing 3 skill points, and summons a fiery bird which damages enemies until it disappears. It costs 8 MP to use, and when used alongside her Woosh spell line, its power matches Terry and Psaro's skills. In the sequel, it is learned by Maribel by reaching level 7 of her boomerang proficiency, and costs 12 MP to use. In addition, she can summon another Firebird Throw alongside her first, but after a third is created, the first one dissipates.
