Flame Slash is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Imbues a melee strike with the power of flames, altering the damage dealt by the target's tolerance of the element.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest VI[]

Making its debut, it is granted at the first rank of the Armamentalist vocation, and deals damage based on the target's vulnerability to sizz, with 130%, 115%, 75%, and 30% being the possible modifiers. It costs 0 MP to use and is also used by Skullriders, Bad karmours, Zombie gladiators, Terry, Zozagel, and Blackmar in battle.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Flame Slash is acquired at Rank 2 of the Armamentalist vocation, Rank 4 of the Berserker, and Rank 3 of the Ersatz Estark and possesses the same parameters. In addition, Kiefer learns Flame Slash at level 5, and his descendant already has the skill when she joins the party. It costs 0 MP to use once again, and is also used by Alarmours, Bronson, Brigand, and Cardinal Sin in battle against their enemies.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

Flame Slash is learned by investing 15 skill points for the Hero and 9 skill points for Angelo in their Sword skill trees, costing 0 MP to use once again. Damage modifiers have not changed, and is used by Zombie Gladiators and Skullriders once again.

Dragon Quest IX[]

Although not directly available to players, use of the Armamentalist's Fire Fource skill can mimic the technique. It is used by the desert dwelling Axolhotls and Goresby-Purrvis in battle.

Dragon Quest X[]

Available to players for the first time since VIII, it is learned when 3 skill points are invested into the Sword skill tree and costs 2 MP to use. It is also used by Prickly pranksters, Harmours, Nightmare Chases, Demonic Knights, Demon Clown Gazer, Berserker Ogre, and Exiled Memory, as well as Zombie Gladiators once again.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is learned by investing 3 skill points into the Hero, Erik, Sylvando, and Hendrik's Swords branch of their Character Builders. The skill once again costs 2 MP to use, and is used by Overkilling machines and Whambelina, as well as Skullriders once again.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

Flame Slash is available to the Hero via his Command Selection ability. It costs 12 MP to perform, but deals high damage and boasts considerable knockback as well. The blade will deal 22% with a wide swing arc and the flames will inflict 17%, but the latter will not send the target flying as far as the former.

Dragon Quest Walk[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned at level 10 in the Armamentalist vocation and when wielding the Aliahan sword and Kiefer's sword weapons, as well as already learned when wielding the Royal rapier, Fire blade, Steel broadsword, Bandit blade, Warrior's sword, Metal slime sword, Silver rapier, Zenithian sword, Knife of Papnica, Sword of Ramias, Sword of Grand Zetannia, Blade of the world tree, and Sword of the Chosen weapons, costing 3 MP to use once again.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Learned by Wax murderers at level 16, and already learned by Hellions, Arrghgoyles, and Killing machine lites when they are recruited, it acts the same as in previous appearances once again and costs 3 MP to use. A scroll of this ability can also be obtained by clearing stage 2 of Wax Murderer and Ace of Spades's Battle Roads and stage 4 of Kiefer and King Mont's Battle Roads. It can also be bought for 750 DQIII Event Medals, Tricolour Rice Dumplings, and Holiday Cards at the Swap Shop.

Dragon Quest Treasures[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Drackolytes and Restless armours, costing 4 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Champions[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is already learned when wielding the Beginner's sword, Steel broadsword, and Aliahan Sword weapons. It costs 10 MP to use, and is also used by Zombie Gladiators once again.
