Gobstopper is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Making its debut, it is one of Torneko Taloon's random actions that prevents an enemy from casting spells.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Used by Crack-billed platypunks for the first time since the Torneko games, it can seal an enemy's magic and has a high hit rate.

Dragon Warrior Monsters[]

MouthShut shuts one foe's mouth shut for 4~6 turns, and costs 6 MP to use. It requires the monster to be at least level 17 with 120 HP, 100 strength, and 140 agility to learn. The PlatypunkMottle king slimeGhost, and Funghoul naturally learn the skill.

Acting mostly the same as in the Torneko games, it is used by Fightgeists, Spitegeists, and Morphean mushrooms, as well as Ghosts once again, though the effect wears off after 1 turn.
