Goodian (Goowain in VI) is a recurring monster character in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest V[]
Making his debut, he is the first name of any Slime knights recruited by the Hero after battle.
Dragon Quest VI[]
Named Goowain, he can be randomly recruited in the Super Famicom version when a Slime Knight is defeated in battle and one of the party members is a rank 2 Monster Master.
In the Nintendo DS remake and its mobile phone port, Goowain is a wandering knight in search of a lord to serve and is first seen near the gate to the Howcastle region. After completing the events of said area and obtaining the Magic Key, he will be found at the back of Prince Howard's room fuming that the brat did not appreciate his offer of fealty. Speak to him and he will gladly join the party.
If he was recruited by the end of the game, then during the epilogue, Goowain tells the Hero that he will honorably protect and serve Somnia.

Appearing as one of 3 monsters that can be summoned by the Hero's Call Ally skill alongside Meera and Mason, he is a well-balanced attacker and has Buff, Zephyr Blade, and Blizzard blade.
Etymology[]
Goowain is a slime-based pun on Sir Gawain, one of the Arthurian Knights of the Round Table.
