Ice Cave* Temple of Trials* |
The Grand Dragon can be found in the deepest level of the GBC Exclusive dungeon, the Ice Cave. In order to make it to Grand dragon, the Hero and the party must have the first 155 Bronze Monster Medals, and all 164 Silver Monster Medals. Grand Dragon attacks exactly as Xenlon does. Defeating him the first time merits him rewarding the Hero with the Rubiss's sword. Defeating him in under 18 turns will result in him awarding the Hero with his own Monster Medals. Talking to Grand Dragon after obtaining all Gold Monster Medals results in him falling asleep.
The HD-2D Remake replaces the Ice Cave with the Temple of Trials. Instead of collecting Monster Medals, you must complete several trials in order to unlock the final room where the Grand Dragon awaits. Unlike the GBC version, their moveset is greatly expanded and they are much more difficult to defeat. If the player wins and they manage to defeat Grand Dragon in under 18 turns, they'll be rewarded with the Grand Medal, an item for bragging rights.

Trivia[]
- Originally the requirement for battling Grand Dragon was to have all 164 Gold Monster Medals (as well as all 164 of the Bronze and Silver Medals), this was toned down in the final version, though, only requiring the Bronze and Silver Monster Medals.
- Golden Dragon, Valgirt Nedlog, Grand Dragon and Timewyrm are golden dragon bosses fought in the post-game. All of them them can be refought many times, though only Timewyrm requires a special item.
- Grand Dragon and Timewyrm are both golden dragon bosses who were added into remakes of their respective games, and are the strongest bosses in their games of origin.
