The Gryphon talon is a recurring claw weapon in the Dragon Quest series
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VIII Remake[]
The gryphon talon has an attack bonus of +86, deals 160% damage against Bird family monsters, and can only be equipped by Morrie. It can be sold for 34,000 gold, but it is not recommended to do so as only one can be acquired in the game.
The claw was available to Japanese players through a promotional gift code earned by visiting TSUTAYA stores and playing the "Monster Battle Road Challenge!" starting on August 27th, 2015. It was the only downloadable item that was not distributed through special item delivery. It was available for international players for a short time in 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable.
Dragon Quest X[]
The gryphon talon has an attack bonus of +38, a style bonus of +10, and increases the wielder's weight by 11. It has an equipment level of 60 and inflicts 10% more damage to Bird family monsters. The claw can be crafted by a weaponsmith.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[]
The gryphon talons can be purchased from the Lethal Weapons Armoury on Domus Isle for 27,600 gold. They have an attack bonus of +77 and an agility bonus of +40.

Dragon Quest of the Stars[]
The Gryphon talon appeared as one of the first five-star gacha items in the game, and was available in a large amount of banners. It has +69 attack (up to +151 when maxed), it's main skill is Flailing Nails, and when maxed it can slot two offensive A skills and a defensive B skill. It does additional damage to the Bird and Machine families. It also comes with the Propeller Blade subskill.
It can be alchemized into Gryphon's knuckles and Eagle claws, gaining the Battle Aura Fist and Grand Finger skills respectively. The former is for Battlemasters, while the later is for Paladins.
The gryphon talon is one of the few weapons in Stars with flavor text. It reads: "Talon-like claws extra effective against birds."
