Appearances[]
Dragon Quest X[]
Making their debut in Version 6.4 as the first of a new kind of vocation tier called Masterclass, with their initial level of 100, Guardians can use Swords, Greatswords, Spears, and Shields, each one with their own individual skill trees as well as the power of Light magic; their exclusive skill tree is called Barricade. As opposed to previous vocations, Guardians don't have any Coup de Grâce (or Special moves), they can instead reach a new state called Pep Power (ゾーン技 Zone Waza, from Dragon Quest XI) exclusive for any Masterclass vocations and unlocked after completing Chapter 4 of their job quest. During this state, stats will increase according to the vocation and the Hero will be able to use Pep Skills once, with the Pep status lasting until the battle is either won or lost.
Unlock Conditions[]
- The Vocations of Warrior and Paladin must be at Level 100
- Having completed both the Warrior and Paladin Questlines.
- Having completed all of the Skill Master Quests
In Astoltia, the Guardians are an indipendent military organization that was founded 1000 years ago as a way to contain a seemingly endless horde of monsters that periodically spewed out from the stone monument in which Strezate, a demonic deity foreign to Astoltia, was sealed away by a group of heroes after he had attempted to take over the world. Eventually the seemingly endless magical power of Strezate finally run dry, and as such, not only the monstrous hordes ceased to be created, but Strezate himself was finally slain for good. While their duties had thusly been fulfilled at last, the Guardians decided to not disband, and instead to operate as general protectors of the world.
