The Hero's unnamed mother is an important side character in the Dragon Quest series, having raised her child to be a courageous young man/woman in the absence of her husband, Ortega.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest III[]
The Hero's Mother first appears seeing Ortega off before he goes off to slay Baramos, though he supposedly dies fighting a monster in a volcano near Necrogond and east of Ibis. Later, she gets her son out of bed to see the King of Aliahan, saying it's his 16th birthday. Afterwards, she wishes him well and allows the Hero and the party to stay at their house for free. When the Archfiend is killed, she is happy her son achieved the impossible, but does not know that his master intends to finish what he started. If the Hero chooses to have Xenlon revive his father from the SNES remake onwards, she is overjoyed that he has returned and introduces him to his son, who he already met before dying at the hands of King Hydra.
Dragon Quest XI[]
The Hero's Mother appears during the game's true ending, putting away a book of the Luminary's adventures before waking up her son. Prior to that, she appeared in An Endangered Engagement, a Tickington sidequest where the populace is suddenly against her marrying Ortega. The Luminary and the party are asked by Erdrick's future mother to get some Defuddle drops from Pavo at the Observatory to expose the Archfiend's acolyte, who was sent by Baramos to ensure his and his master's future enemy was not born. Afterwards, she thanks the Luminary and the party for helping keep their future marriage on track, giving them a Gold rosary as thanks.
