The hunter's bow is a recurring weapon, and also a skill, in the Dragon Quest series.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest IV Remakes[]

The Hunter's bow has an attack bonus of +18. It can be purchased at Taborov for 350 gold coins, and sold for 262 gold.

The weapon appears in the remakes of IV in place of the Boomerang, which targeted only a single enemy in the original NES version.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

The Hunter's bow has an attack bonus of +30. They can be bought for 1,700 gold at Pickham and sold for 850 gold. Only Angelo can equip it. It is also dropped by Hunter mechs on normal occasions and Bodkin bowyers on rare occasions.

The Hunter's bow can also be created through Alchemy, with two possible recipes to choose from: it can be secured by either combining two Cypress sticks and one Strength ring together, or by melding a Short bow with a Chain whip.

Dragon Quest IX[]

The Hunter's bow can be bought for 4,900 gold in Batsureg and sold for 2,450 gold. It has an attack bonus of +57 and a one star rarity. It can be created using the alchemy recipe of Longbow x1 + Chain whip x1. Hunter mechs will drop them once again, though on rare occasions.

Dragon Quest Heroes II[]

Already learned by Torneko Taloon when he joins the party, Hunter's bow acts as a skill that costs 7 MP to use, and allows him to shoot arrows at a wide range, shooting down various enemies like Hawk men with ease.

A Variation named Bow Barrage appears as a skill for the Hunter mechs Monster Medals.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Already learned by Overkilling machines when they are recruited, it deals 195% damage to one enemy and costs 28 MP to use.
