Kaboomle is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Conjures a high-magnitude blast that obliterates or causes major damage to an entire horde of enemies.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest IX[]

Making its main series debut, it is learned by Sages at level 66 and costs 56 MP, dealing a minimum of 200~220 and maximum of 470~490. It is also used by Baramos, Estark, Nimzo, and Rhapthorne in battle.

Dragon Quest X[]

Learned by investing 130 skill points into a Sage's Enlightenment skill tree from the latter half of 2.1 onwards, it costs 25 MP (54 prior to 2.1's latter half) to cast and deals a lot of damage with the max cap being 490~515, (Via the calculation Magical Might x 0.5 + 100.), but has a CT of 50 seconds, while its distance is covered in an eight meter "dome". It is also used by Jade Flares, White Imps, Darkonium Slimes, Mortcuries, Scourgettes, Jiademons, Monochromours, Metal Truffle Slimes, Multicolour Mannequins, Dessert Demons, Kukulkannibal, Zackes, Barbatos, Brenda, Forest Guardian, Ferne the Hunter, Big sham hatwitch, Evil Cubism, Kurayami Hiten, Basillus Keeper, Nelgel's Netherfiend forme, Pazuzu, Belial, Soul of Baramos, Shogum, Time Parabox, Talisman Guardian, Guardian of the Flower Shrine, Morrimp, Mitron, Dominion guard, Moan maiden, Abcart, Hexakong, Aamon, his Ashtaroth form, Tenseicarnation, Cool minx, Birdcage guardian, Angel Doll Rumiria, Unknogre, Curse of the Demon Balsil, Dainheryar, and Id & Duke Sigras during their Strong Boss Fights, as well as Baramos once again. In the Offline version of the game, it is a Coup de Grâce learned by the Hero in the Sage vocation at level 69 and costs 75% Tension to use.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Learned by Veronica after investing 20 skill points into her Vim Character Builder, it costs 60 MP to cast for the first time since Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key and will deal 344~376 base damage, hitting for 704~736 damage once her magical might reaches 900. It is also used by Hooper troopers gone Vicious, Calasmos, End of Time, Grand Master Pang during the Wheel of Harma's Secret Trial, and Timewyrm in battle. It is also part of the Lightmare Pep Power, along with Hendrik and the Luminary being Pepped Up.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[]

Kaboomle costs 45 MP to cast and hits for 195~215 base damage. Once a monster's Wisdom surpasses 603, the spell will grow in power until 999 Wisdom, when it hits for 319~339. It can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2/Joker 2 Professional[]

Kaboomle can be learned all the skills it could be in the previous game, though the points requirement for Rhapthorne II has changed. It can now be learned from:

  • Bang & Sizz III (90 points)
  • Rhapthorne II (84 points)

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D/SP[]

Kaboomle costs 60 MP to cast and deals 218~241 damage. Once the monster's Wisdom rises over 500, the force of the explosion will increase until it deals at 684~756 at 3,999 Wisdom.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key/SP[]

It functions the same as in Terry's Wonderland.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]

Kaboomle costs 60 MP to cast for the first time since XI, and is learned by investing 70 skill points into the Perfect Speller talent, 100 skill points into the Baramos, Calasmos, and Heretic talents, 120 skill points into the Rhapthorne talent, 150 skill points into the Bang Virtuoso, Hargon, Nelgel the Netherfiend, Smarty-Pants, and Storm Chaser talents, and 200 skill points into the Impactor talent. It has a base power of 300 and will deal an average of 790 damage at 3,999 wisdom.
