Dragon Quest Wiki
For the spell translated as "Kazapple" in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, see Kazapstrophe.

Kazapple is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Draws MP from all four party members to strike an enemy with an earth-shaking bolt of divine lightning.

Dragon Quest IV[]

Making its debut, it is learned by the Hero at level 37, and costs 15 MP from all party members to use on one enemy. Due to them having no MP, the spell will not work if Ragnar McRyan, Alena, or Torneko Taloon are currently in the party.

Dragon Quest V[]

Learned by Parry at level 38, it acts the same as in IV, costing 10 MP to cast. It can also be learned by recruited Conkuistadors at level 60 in the remakes.

Dragon Quest VI[]

Learned by any character advancing to Rank 8 of the Hero vocation, it acts mostly the same, though all characters can use it since they gain MP. It costs 10 MP to cast once again and echo if the original caster has the Duplic hat equipped.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Acting and learned the same way as in VI, it costs 10 MP to cast once again.

Dragon Quest X[]

Appearing as a spell used during the final battle against Jagonuba, it destroy him with support from people all over Astoltia and the Demon World.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Now a Pep Power, it is activated by anyone of the Luminary's companions Pepped Up while the Hero himself must have Kazap in his arsenal. The spell's power is dependent on the sum of the party's magical might and starts out dealing 690~750 light damage to all foes, increasing in power once the sum of the participant's magical might reaches 527, peaking at dealing 1410~1470 damage when the total magical might of the users reaches 1986.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Series[]

Appearing from the first Battle Road game onwards, it is a Coup de Grâce for the Scions of Erdrick, the Prince of Midenhall, Prince Princeton of Cannock, and Princess Princessa of Moonbrooke, while the DQIV version from Battle Road II onwards is the Coup de Grace for the Hero/Heroine of IV. In Season 4 of Scan Battlers, it is the Special card for Rek and his companions.

Dragon Quest Heroes II[]

Young Yangus and the Mysterious Dungeon[]

Learned at level 30 by Conkuistadors.

  • The numbers 527 and 1986 are a clever reference to the publishing date of the quest that started it all: May twenty-seventh, 1986.
  • Kazapple being used not just by the Hero and his currently present allies, but by people all over the world/worlds is similar to the spell's use in the Dragon Quest: Land of Illusion manga, delivering the final blow to the Archfiend Mortamor.
