Biography[]

Originally a kind king of Astoltia, he was corrupted and transformed into a mindless machine for destruction by Jagonuba's evil power. Since then, he has been periodically sealed away, only for him to wake up and resume his destruction, with Haku's death being caused by one of such rampages.

Trivia[]

  • The King of Calamity's design is heavily reminiscent of Estark, despite being two completely separate entities. Other than the obvious callback, this similar appearance is probably related to their similar roles as agents of complete indiscriminate destruction, with long periods of inactivity due to forced slumber.
    • In Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, Estark Izmah, an Estark new to the lore of Dragon Quest IV, re-uses the King of Calamity's Final Forme design. This helps solidify the resemblance to the original Estark (referred to as Estark Dumah in the Dark Prince) that the King of Calamity had since his initial appearance in Dragon Quest X.
