Kol is a village in northeastern Alefgard. It exists in both Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest III.
Synopsis[]
Dragon Quest[]
Kol is typically the third town the hero visits. It does not contain any essential items for completing the game; however, the faerie flute is hidden 4 steps south of the baths and is useful for defeating the Golem outside Mercado.
Puff-Puff[]
In the Super Famicom, Game Boy, and smartphone versions, the hero can receive a Puff-Puff from one of the ladies near the bath for 20 gold. All references to the hero's indulgence and the woman's sultry behaviour were removed from the North American NES release, as they were seen as too risqué for a Western audience.
Dragon Quest II[]
As is the case with most of the towns and villages in Alefgard, Kol has no significant role in Dragon Quest II, and as such is not accessible, not even appearing on the overworld map; its location is obscured by forest.
Dragon Quest III[]
Kol contains the item shop which sells the Sword of Kings, the hero's strongest weapon in the original Dragon Quest III (but not the remakes). The sword is for sale after selling Orichalcum to the Jipang shopkeeper and re-entering the village.
Dragon Quest Builders[]
In this game, Kol (along with Galenholm) consists of different areas that can be reached by using teleportals: the Ruins, the Island of Lava, and the Island of Ice. The boss at the end of Chapter 3 is a magmalice and a firn fiend.
