Larhart is a supporting character in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. Initially introduced as a minor antagonist, he is a subordinate and adopted child of Baran and serves as the Land Rider of the Dragon Legion's Dragon Masters.
He is born from a Darkling father and a human mother.
Appearance[]
Larhart is a tall and muscular purple-skinned humanoid with short, messy blond hair. His face is most distinguishable for the markings under his eyes and his long, pointy ears. In his default appearance, he wears a set of reddish robes that leave his right should exposed, with a black belt on his waist from which two red plates with dragon scale patterns originate. He also wears long black pants and two clothed boots with yellow strands. He also wears a pair of clothed gloves and has a strong attached to his left arm, and an accessory with a dragon head in his right arm. His chest has a golden dragon symbol common of the Dragon Legion and a multi-layered shoulder protector in his left shoulder.
When activating his Demon Magic Armor Spear, he is covered in a suit of silver armor that protects most of his body, although it is more revealing than Hyunckel's armor. His own armor features a demonic face on his torso, leg protectors that reach knee-length, shoulder protectors on both his shoulders and armored gloves with shield-like attachments and a metallic headband. His left shield, houses an extendable spear with a short tip.
Personality[]
Larhart is a serious and efficient individual, driven by a strong sense of loyalty towards Baran, who adopted him. Their bond is built on trust and shared secrets, as Larhart is the sole confidant of Baran's past. While Larhart harbors a general disdain for humans, his animosity is primarily fueled by his dedication to Baran rather than a personal vendetta.
In contrast to his fellow Dragon Riders, Larhart refrains from toying with his adversaries or engaging in sadistic practices, preferring swift resolutions. He possesses a deep confidence in his own abilities, though it does not blind his judgment with arrogance. Honorable in combat, Larhart abhors cowardly tactics, evident in his decisive action of slaying Borahorn for taking a hostage, an act he deemed dishonorable to the Dragon Legion.
Abilities[]
Larhart, a prominent Dragon Rider within the esteemed Dragon Legion, possesses an exceptional power that stands on rivaling with that of Legion Commanders. Renowned as the mightiest among his fellow Riders, Larhart's prowess was exemplified by his near-victory over Hyunckel, who effortlessly defeated the other two Riders and faced dominance in most of their encounter against the former Dark Swordsmen.
As a masterful spearmaster, Larhart's prodigious speed enables him not only to skillfully evade incoming attacks but also swiftly reposition himself for strategic advantage as he was able to dodge Wave Slash, launching devastating thrusts of such speed that they prove immensely challenging to evade or block. While excelling in long-range combat, he demonstrates commendable competence in close-quarters engagements as well. Characterized by a combat style focused on generating momentum, Larhart frequently employs spear-spinning maneuvers, not only to augment his swiftness but also to confound and bewilder his adversaries.
His most formidable technique, the Sunder Claw, involves an acrobatic aerial leap while rotating his spear, culminating in the release of a devastating shockwave, capable of inflicting tremendous damage upon impact.
Larhart's signature weapon, the Dark Armour Spear, forged by Lon Beruk, serves as the sister counterpart to Hyunckel's Demon Magic Armor Sword. Fashioned from the same materials, this extendable spear possesses remarkable resistance against Magic spells and Breath attacks, further amplifying Larhart's already formidable capabilities.
Intriguingly, Larhart's revival through the infusion of dragon blood bestowed upon him by his mentor Baran has potentially enhanced his strength, although the exact extent of the augmentation remains uncertain, potentially granting him a slight increase in power as a recipient of the blood of a dragon knight. Based on the provided information, Larhart exhibits an extraordinary power level, standing as a force to be reckoned with among the Dragon Riders, and possessing the potential for even greater strength due to the infusion of dragon blood.
Plot[]
Destiny Arc[]
Hyunckel appears at the last moment during the battle between Popp and Galdandy to save his friend. Popp says that Dai and Baran are related by blood and that the Dragon Commander is going to go take Dai away after having erased his memory. He allows Popp to finish the dragon rider and then easily beats Borahorn. With the objective of saving Baran from his hatred of humans, Hyunckel is determined to stop the Dragon Knight from taking Dai, but first he has to defeat Larhart, Baran's adoptive son and the last Dragon Rider stading. Larhart also use a armor crafted by Lon Beruk, the Demon Magical Armor Lance that surpass the sword version. Hyunckel is rapidly defeated but is able to defeat the dragon rider by using Grand Cross at close range when he was about to be finished. Larhart at his final moments asks for Hyunckel to cleanse Baran from his hatred and save Dino from, giving his lance as a memento.
Baran then goes to the battlefield that the three Dragon Masters were fighting and gives his blood to try to revive them as well. None of them return however, so Baran places each of their bodies in coffins and leaves.
Halo Arc[]
Larhart was able to revive through Baran's blood just like Popp did, even though it took a while longer. Raising from his coffin, he realized that only him was able to return from the afterlife, as the other two riders remained dead.
Larhart arrives on Vearn's Palace to save Hyunckel and Hym from King Maximum. He takes his Demon Magical Armor Lance back and destroys the King and his pawns with one Sunder Claw attack.

Larhart tells Hyunckel and Hym how he was able to come back to life, and the three of them proceed to the White Garden to help on the battle against Mystvearn. Larhart pledges allegiance to Dai, since he's carrying his former master Baran's will. Thanks to the assistance of both Hym and Larhart, Popp and Maam where able to endure in this fierce fight against the Shadow Vizier and make an opening in order to decipher the secret behind his true identity.
