Dragon Quest III 2D-HD[]
Only appearing in the game's 2D-HD Remake, it is learned by Monster Wranglers after recruiting 30 monsters and costs 5 MP to use.
Dragon Quest VIII[]
Making its debut, Jessica can learn this skill after allocating 55 skill points into her whip skill tree, replacing Whiplash. It costs 4 MP, and has a 12.5% chance to paralyze enemies and deals an additional 30% more damage.
Dragon Quest IX[]
Learned by investing 7 skill points into the Whip skill tree, it acts mostly the same as in VIII and costs 0 MP to use, but deals 50% more damage to Humanoids, making it very useful even against single targets.
Dragon Quest X[]
Learned by investing 13 skill points into the Whip skill tree, it acts the same as in IX and costs 1 MP to use, but can also be enhanced with the Master Orb system from Version 3 onwards. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by investing 2 skill points into the Hero's Whips Character Builder and investing 3 skills points into Distan's Whips Character Builder, costing 2 MP to use just like in XI.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Learned by investing 6 skill points into Veronica (Or later Serena)'s Whips Character Builder, or 7 skill points into Sylvando's. It functions as it did in its last 2 appearances, costing 2 MP to use.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[]
Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is the main skill for Rank D whips, but can also be equipped to higher ranking whips.
